newborn sleeps all the time

So I know newborns sleep ALOT but my DD slept the entire day away. She's now awake at 8pm. Yesterday she was alert for 2 hours in the morning so today it through me for a loop. Her diapers are wet and she is pooping so I am not worried about dehydration. Does this sound totally normal to you?

Sounds like she may have her days and nites reversed. You want to nip that in the bud ASAP unless you can sleep all day and be up with her all nite.

Sounds totally normal. At three more this we still have days where he sleeps all the time and days where he is awake a lot.

DD slept all day & night with small periods of being awake for the first 3 weeks. Dr said totally normal as long as she's eating/peeing it's all good. If days and nights are mixed up try keeping the house light and airy during the day and dark and warm at night. Swaddling really helped DD know when was night time aka sleep time as she got a bit older.

It took DS two weeks and then he grew out of it. I was basically a zombie for two weeks. Eventually he just started staying awake a bit more during the day.
