Pregnant after 35

Question: Braxton Hicks?

I think I only experienced BH once with my last daughter and it sent me to the ER with false labor. But it wasn't until close to delivery date. I have been experiencing for the last couple weeks a tightening around the time I eat. It says that BH can start around 20 weeks and be because of dehydration. I am 21 wks and admit I could stand to drink more water (or fluids period). So my question is for those that have experienced BH before. Does it feel like your stomach is being stretched tight clear across your belly? It does come and go at different times after I eat.

  • Ok whew. I just wasn't sure. Maybe bc I am older this time?? But it started making me nervous. And I started reading up and all seemed to point to BH.

  • Yes!!! I posted about this a few weeks back i think. Last time I had them really close to the end and only now and then. This time, they started around 22 weeks and I keep having them all the time. I TRY to drink water but i'm sure I'm not as dilliget about it as I should be. Plus the awful southern heat where we live AND picking my 33lb toddler are not helping. I hate them! A while ago they were really bad, with back pain and period-like cramps. I almost thought those were real contractions. Ughhhh.... I guess it's true what they say that you feel everything sooner and more noticeably in subseqent pregnancies...
    Hang in there!

Also, if you want a laugh... This is how lopsided and pointy my stomach gets when I'm having one of those BHs. It will either point on the left or right, I guess depending on where she is cuddling up at the moment.
Anybody else have a funny lopsided belly during contractions?
  • That is funny. I noticed my kinda points out in the middle. So far no cramping thankfully. But yes...we have the southern heat going on so that doesn't help with dehydration either.
