So this is a church in my neighborhood. It is the church my ILs got married in, the church that DH proposed to me in front of, and the church where I was going to enroll E in the MDO program in January. We are not baptist so we go to the episcopalian church down the street, but I am appalled and saddened at this. I'm interested to hear thoughts on this. Needless to say, I will no longer be enrolling E in the MDO program, which is frustrating because it is within walking distance.

It is a personal thing whether you want to do the MDO. I personally would, but I also let all the grandparents with somewhat similar views watch my child. And I likely know that the people in the classrooms with the children have similar views but likely not as extreme and likely don't let it affect their job at all. I don't think it would affect their care for the children.
I'm not going to touch his sermon with a ten foot pole now because I haven't listened to it. Just know that, while most Baptists have similar views, not all of them respond in harsh ways. My parents are about as conservative as you could get but also the most loving you could meet. My cousin came out of the closet a few years ago, and I think we were all worried about my parents reaction, but their response was "We love YOU and you are always welcome in our house, as is your boyfriend" And then acted on it. And he has always felt invited and loved and welcomed. So really I'm wanting to say - don't lump everyone at the church in together and assume they all react the same to this issue.
their place of worship by giving them
my money.
Edit: I said "parents", but my mother never did fully support this view.
