Having DS Evaluated

DS1 is 6 years old and I believe we need to have him evaluated. He has been exhibiting some compulsive behavior for a while but we have had a hard time determining if it is a "just a phase", a quirk in his personality developing or if it may be a problem. I have done some basic google research on compulsive behavior in children his age and some of the info resonated with me however some of his behavior seems unique.

Example: He is obsessed with clothing. He critiques what everyone wears, remembers what you wore three days ago and likes to guess what you will wear next. He has more wardrobe changes in a day than Lady Gaga during a concert. Each morning he MUST go in my closet and figure out what DH wore to work. My son has approx. 90% success rate because he knows the entire inventory of our closet. Then he tries to mimic his outfit for the day as close as he can. If he winds up being wrong he gets very upset. He was spending so much time in my closet that he was getting in the way when I was trying to get ready for work so I made the mistake of banning him from our closet for a while. He shut down. Not so much a tantrum but a full blown meltdown. When I asked him why he is upset he told me that he, "has to go in my closet every day" and that he, "doesn't know why but he can't stop himself". That broke my heart.

Another area of concern is that he is also very time conscious. At first I attributed it to being on a schedule from years in daycare. Like, "Its 11:30 I am hungry". I would ask him if his belly felt hungry or if he thinks he should be hungry because its 11:30. He doesn't understand there is a difference. He gets VERY agitated if the clocks in our house do not match. He has a meltdown every time the power goes out.

I am new here and have not contributed much yet. But I am looking for a WWYD and/or advice mother to mother. Has anyone had their child evaluated for  compulsiveness? I am starting to feel very guilty for letting this go for as long as we have. I hate to think that my baby is struggling inside.
