So I'm not having a baby shower.. or leaning towards not having one. Should I create a registry?
Well a) if no one offers you don't have anything to decline. I'm confused if you don't want to throw your own (don't ever, it's tacky) or if you've not been offered and/or would decline even if offered? :-?
You can create a registry simply to get the completion coupon discount if you choose.
I'm sorry.. what is your question? The first part confused me? I was offered a shower but chose to decline. But my question is: is a registry a bad idea?

Sorry about the confusion @bb071611 . You answered my question. I was unclear if you were offered.
I don't think it's a bad idea. As I stated above, you get a completion coupon at the end. You can also keep it private & use it as your own shopping list.
I create one to get the welcome packet with coupons and the completion discount. Might be selfish but babies are expensive and if I can a dollar here and there I'm all up for it.
I would. You can keep track of what you need, get completion coupons, refer people to it if they ask what you need or where you're registered and it makes returns easier.

I'm a FTM and my family traditionally does not have baby showers, but I still created a registry. Like others have said, it makes it easier to keep track of what I want/need to buy (and use the completion discount) and even without a shower, some people will still ask where you are registered because they want to buy you a gift.
I may have a shower, but I made an amazon wish list instead. I just don't see myself doing a registry but I didn't think about the coupons. I opted for amazon because it's got lots of options and products beyond what I have seen at stores. Just a thought.
I would. I had quite a few people purchase things remaining on my registry after the baby was born. I registered at Target and Amazon. The completion coupons are great to use for any items you don't get.

I would say no. It seems like an unnecessary step. I would just make a list of stuff you need. I don't think you need to go to the store and complete the registery and then go back to the store and buy everything.

A registry is never necessary, shower or not.

I started one for the same reason PP said... a way to organize and the coupon in the end is always nice
Do it for the completion coupon if anything. I also got a $20 gift card when I registered at target.
