How much down time do you need/ take per day? I realize that could be two separate questions. What do you do? Watch TV? Surf the web? Chores are not downtime! :-\
I need about 2 hours to unwind before bed. I usually surf the web. Considering its the only kid free time I have, I feel guilty taking it. Sometimes after loafing for 2 hours after the kids are in bed, I finally get up and do something which results in my staying up too late. I think I need a better system for relaxation.

We take turns on the weekends giving each other a break.
I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!
I'm assuming you don't mean downtime like the time I spend at work on TB or on Pinterest, right? LOL
Per day, generally from 8-9pm is my "down time." That's after both kids are in bed, and chores are done. I go to bed around 9:00, sometimes a little later on weekends, because DD still gets up during the night to eat. I usually sit on the couch with DH and watch one of our shows, and maybe surf the internet a bit. So I guess it's more "us time." I may have a glass of wine as well. We have a long train ride every day, so I get a good amount of reading done during that time.
On the weekends we will usually have a "date night" on Saturday night which is when we eat dinner after the kids are in bed and then maybe watch a movie or something, but that's like from 8pm til 10pm or so. There is pretty much no other down time on the weekends. With our commute we only see our kids about an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening during the week, so I don't care to spend any time away from them on the weekend, and neither does DH. So all our downtime is limited to after they go to bed for the night, both during the week and on the weekend.

We do the bulk of our housework on the weekend (laundry, cleaning, etc.) and the daily stuff (dishes) gets done before the kids go to bed.
We either watch tv, read, or play on our phones.
I get lots of internet downtime at work because it's so slow.
At home, I put the kids to bed by 8:00, tidy/do chores until maybe 9:00, then consider my downtime to be from 9-10 (earlier if I get all of my chores done). If DH is home early from work, I might run from 7-8, and I would consider this downtime as well. Other than running, I read, play the piano or shoot the shit with DH. I don't watch much TV, but if I had more downtime and didn't have to use it so wisely, I would finish watching Downton Abbey.
