Anyone here have vision coverage through Ameritas?

DH's employer changed insurance recently.  We have Aetna for medical now, and we have dental and vision through Ameritas.  The dental seems to be fine, where the dentist will bill Ameritas directly.  But for vision, every optomitrist I have called, wants me to pay up front and have Ameritas reimburse me.  I called Ameritas and they say they have no problems paying if they are direct billed but nobody seems to want to direct bill them because our coverage is a flat coverage?  Ive never heard of this.  I was hoping to have DH, myself and DD all go get our eye exams and I am sure DH will need a new glasses perscription, since he has been complaing about his eye sight getting worse.  But there is no way I can pay for all 3 of us, plus glasses all up front and then wait who knows how long before we are reimbursed.  What a pain!  Anyone here have Ameritas and have luck getting their optomitrist to direct bill?
