TTC after 35

To Temp or not to Temp

Hi ladies, so I've never temp'd. I've done the OPK's. Is it worth it? Where do I start?

Currently going on round 4 of Clomid under supervision of RE. This cycle will probably do timed BD with the OPK again, but wondering of I should start temp charting and what it involves.

Re: To Temp or not to Temp

  • If you would like to maximize your timing, then I would definitely suggest temping in conjunction with OPKs. Fertility Friend has a lot of great tutorials to help you get started. Basically, you will need to try to temp at the same time each morning before moving or getting out of bed. If you wake up at different times, temp after three full hours of sleep. I temp at different times of the morning, and FF still can identify my O day.

  • Temp!  To me it is the easiest two minutes I spend in my ttc efforts.  @URMYSundhine77 has given you excellent information.  Fertility friend makes charting so simple.  Follow the temping guidelines, don't stress over individual temps, look for the pattern and bingo ff identifies your O day.  The more information you "feed" it the better.  Best wishes
  • Definitely temp!  And what PP have said.  :)

First ultrasound: TWO beautiful little heartbeats!!
Harmony: negative; level 2: babies look great and are boy/girl! :)
  • It's absurdly easy, and free - I use a fever thermometer, didn't even have to buy a BBT one.  Gives so much information about the cycle, and there's little quirks you can pick up other than the confirmation of O.  FF has studies on early temp signs of pregnancy, AF, early losses, etc. and they're fascinating.  They even have a freebie Kindle book that covers a lot - https://www.amazon.com/Charting-Your-Way-Conception-FertilityFriend-com-ebook/dp/B007IVNABU/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1410332294&sr=1-1&keywords=fertility+friend

More information is a good thing, I just haven't wanted to spend $ on OPKs when I can tell where I am with regards to O after the first couple months) with just tracking CM and morning temp.

  • I definitely recommend temping.  I've been charting for the past 13 years.  It takes seconds and helps so much.

  • Definitely temp! Just get into a routine, it's not bad.
There's also a book called Taking charge of your fertility. It goes into a lot of detail about temping.
