Did anybody use the nap nanny before it was recalled and absolutely love it like I did!? Do you plan on getting the alternative, or already have it?..I believe it's called the daydreamer from babiesrus? Thoughts on it?
Please follow the safe sleeping guidelines and make sure everyone that cares for your LO also follows them. They do reduce the risk. Trust me, you don't want to live without your child.

Get a Rock n Play, same concept(semi-upright for sleeping) but doesn't have the safety issues because people aren't tempted to put them places they shouldn't(on the couch, on the counter, in the crib). Much safer.
Due with #5 April 22, 2015. It's a girl!!!!!
Yes it was planned, yes we know what causes that, no we are not on public assistance, and yes we will be getting cable after this.
@saltbox40 I believe the risk is when you use it in a way it's not meant to be. I'm pretty sure that's how all the deaths reported happened. I intend to use it as it was meant to be used..as an alternative lounge/nap place on the floor. Which worked wonderfully with my first child. Thanks for taking the time for your input although that's not what I asked.
You realize it was recalled because children died? Died. DIED.
You don't get to choose how others respond. Even though that's not what you asked.
Do you realize that babies have died in a Rock N Play? Or that babies have died in their bassinets? Or cribs for that matter? You must be cautious in everything that you do and I'm well aware of this. I'm not looking to have a petty argument. I don't at all think I can control how someone responds but I can at the same time point out that the questioned was directed toward mothers that HAVE used it and liked it. Not the opposite. I do have a bouncy and a swing.. like I said , it's just an alternative.
I'm not talking about using the nap nanny. I'm talking about using the daydreamer! I used the nap nanny back 2011 and shortly returned it. I'm pregnant with number 2 and asking about the daydreamer .. Which is similar but safer.
I'm not really getting anywhere with this post...So we can just forget it I'm sorry you all didn't seem to understand me and in return felt a little angered. All is well here.
There's no way I would use a similar thing to a device that has caused that many deaths.
There Is a known cause for why the babies died in those devices, babies are the safest in cribs or bassinets without padding. True SIDS happens for an unknown reason.
I didn't have a nap nanny, but my thoughts on the daydreamer are that it looks like an unnecessary baby item that costs an arm and a leg. If your kiddo has reflux, stick a (free!) towel under their mattress.

There is no doubt that baby is safest sleeping in her bassinet or crib. Which I fully intend to do. It would be used, for example..on the floor, lounging after breast feeding while I color with my 3 yr old right beside him/her.
This has all been taken to another level. Not my intentions.
I actually asked if anyone used the nap nanny BEFORE it was recalled and loved it? AND planned on getting the alternative. We must all read carefully before we jump to conclusions.
I would say recall because chance of DEATH is a reason to stop loving it, so if anyone did use it, after the recall I bet finding an exact match wasn't at the top of their list.
It's actually not at the top of my list. It was only a question since I have a sister that never used hers. You should ask before you assume.

You do realize that DEATH occurred because it was used in a way it was not intended for. Such as stuffing it in a crib for night time sleep. Which is completely opposite from what I would intend to do.
and the answer is that no one PLANS on getting the alternative. We're all reading perfectly fine. You just don't like the responses you've gotten.
This is not true. You tried to tell me what I asked which was incorrect. You all just don't like that I'm replying I guess. If someone asked a question or if I have one for them then surely that's okay here considering that's what this site is used for. . Questions and replies.

You keep saying that OP. I am not exactly sure what kind of response that you are looking for. It will not change the mind of these ladies that the alternative is any safer. Those sides look like suffocation traps. Since there are no straps to keep the chest and body upwards, there is nothing to keep that child from slipping to the side and suffocating. So NO I will not be using it. I do not want it. These ladies don't want it or feel that its safe. Why would you want the same thing as the original yet seemingly more dangerous? I would suggest using something with a chest strap rather than just a crotch strap, if you are so inclined.
Yes I do. Sorry for the hormone excuse. Just can't see any other reason it turned to this. It's not that I don't like the responses. I don't believe I ever once said that. I'm ONLY Replying. Judge if you wish.
Ok... I'm not saying I'm buying the alternative, but my second baby had to use it... She had serious reflux which makes sleeping on her back lying flat extremely dangerous for risk of choking... This was the only safe way to have her sleep... Once the recall happened I stopped using and will not use the alternative, but putting a blanket under the mattress is actually not safe AT ALL!!! There are standards for how the mattress should fit in the crib, none of which include wedging something under it to create gaps and an incline for the baby to slide to bottom... The one I used had a harness that you secured he baby into the wedge... Still not planning on using it, but having had a baby that couldn't sleep for longer than 20 minutes at a time because of reflux, you are willing to try some unconventional sleeping suggestions!
