A plan has been made! (Sept 4 appt update from my intro)

Hi all. I introduced myself last week to this wonderful group and told you all I had an appt on sept 4 to discuss some options with my ob/gyn. You all gave me so much great advice. I took the list of questions/comments in with me today to my appt.

Before I could ask any of my questions my ob/gyn started talking a lot about everything I had on my list. I'm on CD2 (period brought on by Provera). She did an u/s today and saw fibroids (which I knew I had from previous u/s) and lots of those "lovely" cysts in both ovaries. So tomorrow I will go in for my CD3 bloodwork (again TERRIFIED OF NEEDLES ugh). Then Monday I have my HSG (so nervous for that) scheduled! Then she will follow up with another u/s and then day 21 progesterone bloodwork testing. Lastly, she is putting in a referral to the RE that their office works with. She said all of my results will be ready for the RE to review by the time of my appt. From there we will decide what the plan of action needs to be.

Yay! I'm just so glad my ob/gyn is so proactive and she wanted to do everything you ladies talked about before I even asked about it all. What a huge relief! My gosh this cycle timing couldn't be more perfect to start everything!

Any advice you guys have for the HSG? Thank you again for everything! I seriously love you all!

So his results came back at my ob/gyn went over them with me. She said everything was in the "normal" range with the exception of elevated WBC. So she scheduled an appt with a urologist for him to just check everything over and do a repeat SA.

Hooray!!  I'm so happy your OB knows their limits and didn't try to push unmonitored meds on you.  She's a keeper!

Everyone's HSG experience is different but I will tell you that mine was really fast and easy.  I did take the ibuprofen before I went and it did help with the cramps I had afterward.  But the cramps weren't any more painful than those I have when AF rears her ugly head so it was okay.  Ketchup's advice about relaxing is solid.  The more tense you are the more uncomfortable it will be.  Remember to take deep breaths and it will all be over soon.

Thanks ladies! I feel so good about the plan! You all gave me the exact info and confidence I needed. Even better my OBGYN was a step ahead of me with a perfect plan ready for discussion. I am seriously so lucky to have such a great OBGYN. I will def be taking ibuprofen before I go. Do they typically give you an idea of the test results while they perform the HSG?

@dsculley1824 - At mine they actually had a little screen they moved into my line of site so I could see the dye in there and everything.  If everything is clear you will probably know right away.

I agree with @iPutKetchupOnKetchup‌ take a bunch of Advil (like 3 or 4) ahead of time. Different people obviously have different experiences, but I thought it was less painful than I expected. I believe most doctors tell you the results as they do it.

I will for sure take 3-4. Anything to not be in pain (or ease the pain). @iPutKetchupOnKetchup‌ your story sounds awful! Ice water all over the lady parts?! Say what?! Lol. And yes @BunnyBerry‌ my OBGYN is awesome. I really lucked out apparently. FX there are more like her out there that help women like us

I know a lot of pp say the HSG is painful but I just wanted to chime in and say that for me it wasn't painful at all. Although, I did take 4 Advil and a Xanax before hand (doctors orders). Just thought I'd ease your worries about it, I was super nervous and it helped to hear pp say it wasn't bad!!! Good luck!!!

Thanks ladies! I have a prescription for Xanax from my PCP that I only use when I need blood drawn lol. I'm such a "baby" I know lol. I'll pop one tomorrow before my CD3 bloodwork and maybe one before the HSG to ease my nerves.

I always tense up when they put that god awful speculum in so I'm sure it's gonna be a pleasant experience when I tense up for this. I will keep you all in my thoughts and try to remember to relax.

Great. Hoping everything goes well. By the end if this needles won't even phase you. I was the same way. I got sick to my stomach thinking about blood work. Now id rather give blood than urine because it's easier

Glad you have a plan and an OBGYN who knows when things should be sent to the RE.  

My HSG wasn't terrible, the worst part was when he put the catheter into my cervical opening it was crampy for a moment.  When we were done he sat me up and gave me a moment to clean up, grabbed my H from the waiting room and brought him in to go over the images and what he saw.  But my OBGYN is also very proactive and works side by side with my RE so he's also a rare breed among the field.

I survived my CD3 blood draw!! Maybe my needle fear is becoming easier to deal with. Lol the lady was so fast and nice. Now onto HSG on Monday
