How contagious is mono?

DH has been sick for 3 weeks straight and they just diagnosed him with mono. How likely is it that the kids and I will come down with it? I've read all the actual stuff on spreading it but I'm looking for anecdotes. Ugh...this sucks.

My brother got it in middle school and none of the rest of us got it. Family of six.

I had it in law school and DH and lived together and obviously exchanged spit, and he never got it. So there's hope for sure!

DH had a reoccurence of it in January.

Neither I nor the kids got it and we didn't know it until 2-3 weeks into his constant sick but not sickness.

I had it at 16. I have no clue where I got it from but the people I smoked a joint with 5 days after my diagnosis didn't catch it.

I just wanted to say sorry to your DH (and to you!)...  it sucks while you're actively sick, but the worst part is trying to regain your energy back.  It took me forever (like over 6 months) to ever feel normal!

Thanks all! The trick is going to be resting...he's a busy/restless type of person and our kids tend towards the high energy/challenging side and the baby doesn't sleep. I'm praying I don't get it. If i do, we might have to call for reinforcements...
