  • @HMR11913 How in the HELL did you get those pets to stay still long enough for a picture?  And how are your cats not going crazy with clothing on them?  I need to know!!  My cats would run around the house until they figured out how to get the clothing off of them.

Haha! Actually, I owned a New Beetle that I loved dearly. As far as living bugs . . . depends on the type. Ladybugs = love, cockroaches = irrational reaction that involves a lot of cringing.

@stinybean about 7.5 years ago-  I was always into art, used to draw but I could never quite bring my vision to life. One day my hubby bought me a little digital camera, nothing fancy and I became obsessed with lighting and angles and the way to get a beautiful shot. I took photos of everything I loved and anything that inspired me. made all our friends model (they loved that lol) and about 6 months later I wanted a better camera, so I got an entry level dslr with a kit lens (rebel xt with 18-55mm) and ordered every book I could find off amazon on photography. played around for a year or so, and people started asking me to take their photos, and so I went into business :)

@buggirl72 where did your nickname come from? are you very fond of bugs?

I can't believe you've only been a photog for less than 8 years. I know I told you this the other day, but I want to reiterate that I love your work.
  • @MSU_Girl1202 Favorite activity to do in the winter?:

It would definitely have to be ice skating outside. There's this ice skating rink they set up every year downtown near a big Christmas tree and there's always hot chocolate and live music. DH does kind of skate circles around me, but it's so much fun.

@EurydiceNymph: I may have missed this somewhere, but are you moving to Mackinac Island/ that area?? (If so, I'm super jealous!)

--- That is so sweet! I’ve never been a “farm girl” but I’ve always really,

she kept sucking on my thumb it was the cutest thing!

They are very cute. But having to bottle feed a calf isn't fun at all. It sucks and is something you only do as a last option to keep them alive.

  • @CFearsy- We’ve just moved to the mountains, near the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s seriously the most beautiful place I’ve ever been.  Just changed it though given recent events.

@EurydiceNymph @CFearsy- Agreed that EVERYTHING is tough in the moving/home buying process! We managed to find a home within 3 days of looking- I don’t know how, but stars aligned.  EurydiceNymph’s advice about the lists was spot on.  We also really focused on the commute (traffic patterns, distance/time), neighborhood and HOA rules (e.g., can we put up a fence for our dogs?), and made a priority list of things we’d want/need to change and priced those out before making an offer.

For us the most stressful part was dealing with the bank. We asked for a list of needed documentation up front since DH and I both work full-time and can’t get things to them same-day. We were amazed by how many things they still needed within 24 hours! My advice would be to go ahead and start getting documents together (tax records, bank statements, statements from current home, drivers licenses, etc.) and scanned into pdf’s while searching for a home. We learned that having them in PDF made it much easier to resend/upload (securely, of course), and then there was a nice e-mail trail.

@MrsPhD83, what is your PhD in? You’ve probably answered that a lot before, but I’m curious.

@PetraStonegirl- That picture is AMAZING! And thanks for sharing the story about your past experience on here and for leaving it up as a reminder for all of us.

  • @EurydiceNymph‌ - When did you get your pilot's license and what's the coolest thing that you have flown?
I got my license when I got out of the military at 23. I wanted to be a lifer but I was discharged for medical reasons.

My favorite plane that I flew was a Glasair III: image
This little baby is a rocket. Top speed is 290mph, Cruise at 280. This isn't a pic of the actual one I flew, but it gives you the idea. If money were no object this would be the plane that we would own.

For work (or former work at least) I flew the Cirrus SR-20 mostly: image
^^ Actual plane I have flown.

That's awesome! I was working on mine in high school with the hopes of transferring some of my fixed wing hours to rotary. I was a little short of soloing but dropped it when I finally realized that helicopter search and rescue would never happen unless I enlisted in the military. I think it's awesome that you fly, such a wonderful feeling to be up above everything else.

Have you ever been the Military Aviation Museum in VA Beach? My father's employer (my former employer) is an avid collector of WWI and WWII aircraft. Fun fact - he even had a plane pulled out of a frozen lake in Russia and had to find the family of the dead pilot before he was allowed to take the plane for his museum.

@MrsG80inTN - what's your favorite thing about the area you live in?
Hmmmm... I live in Nashville, TN (Basically) and I particularly love how friendly the people are, the great music scene, the food scene (O.M.GEEEE the food scene!).  It's just an all around great place to live and play.

@buggirl72 - What is the one food you couldn't live without?

I've been tracking my food consumption that past week and have realized that I can live without chocolate because I HATE putting it in my tracker. I would say cheese is probably the big one. I've had cheese in some shape or form daily for a long time.

@buggirl72, just taking a look at your avatar pic, do you read tarot?
I don't read it but have had it read a couple times. The Fool was pretty dominant in the last reading I had at a point in my life when taking a leap of faith turned out to be the best thing I ever did.
