Sore Arms? (Long post)

Hi All,
LO just had his 15 month shots on Tues. As of yesterday after his nap, he's unable to get up if he's lying on his back. He can get up if on his belly. He's running, talking, eating, playing, smiling - as usual.

DH is hysterical about it. We called the dr last night and they said he's probably just sore. (Makes total sense). They said if he's not better by today to call back.

This morning he was still unable to get up from his back. We go to dr, pedi says she's "perplexed". (Just what my hysterical DH needs to hear right!) because he's reaching up for us and able to do everything else, she doesn't get why he can't get up. I say he's just sore, she's not sure and said if he's the same tomorrow, come back.

Any input? Anyone else go through this? We tried Motrin vs Tylenol so I'm hoping it does the trick.

  • No experience since all of our shots have been thigh shots, but hope things look better soon.

Have you tried some light massage?

  • He's moving his arms no problem, reaching up, picking up toys, pointing to things, etc. Getting up from laying on his back is literally the only thing he's having a hard time with.

I do think it's the shots making him sore. DH is bugging out (not me) ;)

Was just curious if anyone experienced anything similar. I'm going to give it a day or 2 more and call pedi back if not improved. thanks for the feedback!

  • I'm sorry, I also have no advice, as all of our shots have been in the thigh so far as well- but is he crying when he tries to get up from his back or doing anything to lead you to believe he is in pain, causing him difficulty in getting up?  I hope things resolve soon.

  • He wasn't full on crying when trying to get up, but whiney.

He seems to be doing much better today though! He was standing in his crib when he got up this morning (at 9:45!!)

    Thanks for the reply!
  • @mtnmomma13‌ yes! He's totally back to normal and DH is back to his (semi) calm self! Thanks for asking :)
