Perhaps I should ask this on the BFing board, but I wanted to start with my regular ladies first.

For those avoiding dairy & soy, do you avoid soy lecithin or just soy in its more "true" forms? I've been avoiding dairy for over three weeks, and while LO appears to feel better, there is still mucus in his stool. The pedi's office is now advising that I eliminate soy and I'm seeing mixed messages on whether soy lecithin is ok. Also, the pedi's initial advice was to just avoid dairy in it's true form and that greek yogurt was good to eat. I'll ask this if I don't see any improvement after eliminating/decreasing soy, but I'm wondering if I need to also get more aggressive in eliminating dairy in all its forms. Lastly, if the baby appears to be feeling well and is gaining weight on target, is having mucus in the stool ever ok? Surely it is a sign that something is amiss in the digestive process?

Good luck! +1 to joining the MSPI check in on the BF board; those ladies are great!!!
I've read on MSPI Mama that you don't need to avoid soy lechtin, but no actual advice.
@meg&austin, my LO's poop has always been very liquidy, but the Pedi saw one and said it looked fine.

One Greek yogurt has twice the amount of protein as a glass of milk. So I'm not sure what your Ped is talking about...I would cut out ALL dairy including those hidden in food like whey, milk powders, butters, casein and lactose. It takes about 2-4 weeks for it to get out of your system if you're BF but longer like PPs have said for LO

I have noticed that he seems to feel better since I eliminated the obvious dairy. He used to act like he had gas / stomach pains in the evenings where he would stiffen up and cry after eating. So I think he has a slight intolerance at least. However, all of the input here is making me a little less concerned about the mucus. Especially since it's more sporadic now. I'll talk to my pedi more at his 4 month checkup.
