Success after IF

Question if you did PGD

If you did PGD, how long did you wait before doing an FET?

I am planning to do PGD in this current IVF cycle. Assuming there any genetically intact 5-day blasts, I am wondering when I should plan a FET. While my heart says to plan one the next possible cycle, I am wondering if my body might be better off without hormones for a cycle or two. Your thoughts, please.

Of course this could all be moot if all the future embryos are abnormal.

  • We did PGS (Preimplantation Genetic Screening) and I started my FET the next cycle. My RE left it up to me if I wanted to start the next cycle or wait. He had no preference, except that he has more success with FET's on genetically tested embryos and wants the body to have some kind of break before transfer.

I'm rooting for you and hoping you have some great embryos!

I did PGD and due to the 10 days the results took to come back we opted for a cycle break and that was recommended by my RE too. GL, waiting for the results is so nerve wracking.

    Edited to fix autocorrect glitch

    Multiple ectopics, 2 failed IVF's
IVF #1: Did not get to ET, embies all failed PGD (major chromosomal defects)
IVF #2: We have 2 chromosomally perfect embies as a result of PGD (Boy/Girl) 1 failed the thaw (Girl) Transferred 1, yet ended as a c/p
Thought it was the end of our TTC Journey 6/20/2012

Thank you. There's so much time between CD1 and whenever ET is that I'm feeling a complete disconnect.

  • We grew our embryos to day 5... Biopsied them and froze them. The biopsies were sent to a lab for testing, I found out the results about 5 days later and waited for AF and started prep for the FET. So, we had 1 cycle in between.... That cycle actually ended as a chemical and when I went in to discuss what "happened" and what changes we could make my RE suggested rather than taking another month to prep, it was better to do a transfer right away. I did a transfer 2 weeks after my chemical and it was successful. My RE says sometimes chemicals can "jump start' your body and it recognizes what to do the next time?

I know it seems strange to go through the whole process just to STOP at the most exciting part but it's worth it to get your body back regulated and get those results from the lab! Good luck to you!
