Breastfeeding

BM storage

Just in the beginning stages of pumping and reading about storage. A few questions to hopefully gain some quick answers:

(1) If I double pump can I combine the contents of both bottles into one?

(2) Can I add milk to a previously started container in the fridge. I am guessing no, since they will be from different pumping sessions.

(3) Is it common to get more milk from breast than the other?

  • 1. You can add bottles from the same pumping session, you will most likely need to in order to make the bottle the size you need to feed LO 2. You can add previous pumping sessions together only once they are the same temp. Meaning, out whatever you just pumped in the fridge, once cold, add to your other cold milk. The only thing you have to remember is that the "expiration date" is then based on the oldest milk in the bottle 3. Yes it is common to get different amounts, typically you have a "stud" and a "dud" as far as production, and how much baby ate and one which side can affect your next pumping session
I like that analogy, a stud and a dud. Good to know! thx
