Pregnant after a Loss

Red Raspberry Leaf Tea

Hi ladies - I'm coming over from TTCAL for a question.  I thought it would be best suited here since I'm asking for success stories.  I am trying to set myself up for success this cycle - I am getting serious about temping, just ordered some OPKs from Amazon and am looking into the RRL tea.  Anyone have success using this??

Re: Red Raspberry Leaf Tea

  • I wouldn't mess around with supplements and herbals without a doctors' okay. Even though it's "natural" it is still a drug and you need to have all the info. Your best bet is temping, charting and good timing. Be a healthy weight. Stay active. Take prenatals. There is no magic pill.

  • Agree with @chicagojackie. However, if you like the idea of taking the red raspberry leaf, the Rainbow Lite prenatals have it as an ingredient. Maybe a way to get some of the benefits without having to drink a tea (many of the brands are scams and don't actually contain enough active ingredients to do anything).

  • @CreechMommy‌-

Hi lady. I miss you girls.

I drank red ras. Leaf tea during both of my pregnancies but not until well past the 20+ week mark. I've only read about it's benefits in increasing uterine tone and "ripening" the cervix when the time is right. I haven't actually heard of it having benefits for getting pregnant- though I haven't done much reading up on it lately. I've heard Pom juice is good for uterine lining. Personally I'd avoid adding too much to your TTC regimen. I think with the OPKs and temping and good timing, you'll be pregnant quickly.

I drank RRL tea for a few months after my D&C to get my ute "back in shape". I really can't say if it made a difference or not. I did not drink it the month I got pregnant with DD or this LO. You are not supposed to drink it in the early months of pregnancy, so if you do decide to try it, I would stop either in your 2ww or right when you get your BFP.

RRL can be helpful in the last few weeks of pregnancy when you want to bring on labor. I forgot to try it with DD, but I may try it this time.

As @mpiemont‌ mentioned, pomegranate juice can be good to help thicken the lining of your ute. It makes it a nice "plushy" place for your egg to implant. You drink 8oz a day from the first day of AF until when you ovulate and then stop. Some ladies experience a heavier AF the next month, but I never had that issue. I drank it the month I got pregnant with DD, but not with this LO. So maybe it helped, but it's hard to say.

GL this month! I hope you get your BFP soon!

  • I drank one cup of RRL tea daily for the month we were TTA after the m/c and for the 2 weeks prior to my BFP.  As mentioned above, I didn't want to drink it during early pregnancy, so I stopped drinking the tea for the 2ww.
I also did pom juice  and fertility yoga (this one) during that time.  I have no idea if it any of my homeopathics helped.  However, doing something, anything, helped me feel like I was a bit more in control of a very out of my control situation; so it made me feel better.  I was very blessed to get my BFP the first cycle we were TTCAL (the first BFP took 8 cycles).
    Best Wishes to you!

I can't bold because I'm on mobile, but regarding the last statement... You don't know that. Good timing does not always equal pregnancy. I know you're trying to be reassuring, but that kind of advice really isn't helpful.

To answer your question, OP, I would check with your HCP about this. I read conflicting info on whether it was safe during the first trimester because I was taking the Rainbow lite prenatal and it was one of the ingredients. I ended up switching brands because I didn't feel comfortable taking it during the 2ww.

I can't see your signature, but is there a reason why you are looking into this particular herb?

  • @luciddreamer106 Just looking into some things I can do to promote a healthy pregnancy and looking for things I can do.  With my loss I felt so helpless because I just had to sit there and wait.  I read somewhere that RRL and help with ovarian cysts and just overall strengthening of the uterus.  I've had cysts in the past.  I don't know what caused my loss, but I'm trying to be proactive and look into healthy ways I can support my reproductive system.  I'm just beginning to look into it and by no means are set on using it - just starting to check it out and see if it would be a good fit.

  • I drank RRT and pomegranate juice leading up to my FET, but not after. Then I had the pineapple core (but not too much--just one over four days). God only knows if these things make a difference, but you can't get the placebo effect from nothing, IYKWIM.

RRT is interesting because there are so many different opinions about it during pregnancy. I think I will personally just avoid it for the most part.

  • Thanks everyone! I may try POM juice instead since it doesn't have as many mixed opinions about it - and it's just good for you all around!

@pbige Yea I don't know if any of these natural things really work, but it makes me feel better haha.  It's something I can physically do so I feel more proactive!
