I totally forgot to tell you I ate poutine at work last week! We brought tail gating foods to kick off football season and someone asked a co worker if she would bring her famous fries and gravy and I said oh! Is that called poutine (I pronounced it poo-teen) and she llol and said yes it's called (poot-sin) and it's a French word so I had to tell her all about my cool imaginary/real friend! :D. Also please check your pm in a few mins.
Edit: stupid auto correct

  • Sooo good. There are better poutines @ovenrack‌! That one isn't gooey goodness.

@Mapleme‌ it's on my to do list as I live in a more french than English community. I would love ds to be able to conversationally use it.

I make gravy with flour, but TJ could use cornstarch. Melt butter (or substitute) in a pan, mix in flour to make a roux and cook for a little bit then add broth or milk bit by bit as you mix in the flour mixture. Keep whisking with a fork the whole time. Stop adding broth when the gravy is slightly runnier than you want and keep cooking until the flour taste is cooked out. Add salt and pepper to taste.
    seriously…that's it?
I make Turkey gravy on Thanksgiving only. but with the leftover juices from my roasting pan.  So pan gravy the broth is the replacement for the turkey juices?
You'd think I never cooked! lol.

Yep! You can add spices at the same time as the flour too. Traditional poutine gravy has onion and garlic powder in it.
omg…so going to be a part of my life. Might make mh like me again ;)

I made this gravy the other day for my shepherd's pie.  It was lackluster.

Moose are totes real. I wouldn't want to get too close to one. And polar bears.

have you ever seen one? a moose, not a polar bear. those are legit.
Did you know that a moose's brain is only the size of a walnut?  They are hopelessly dumb.  Which is why you should stay away from them.  They're unpredictable.
  • Mmmm poutine... It's my absolute favourite and I haven't eaten it since before DD was born. Probably how I managed to lose the baby weight lol

I also need to get back on my French. I never use it anymore so it's going right out the window and it makes me sad.

  • I've seen a moose! Sadly in the Vancouver zoo and not in the wild.

A moose ran at my car once. Fortunately it changed it's mind and ran into the woods.

That would scare me to death! Especially at night.

I would not think Moose are in NFLD. Like on the island, or Labrador?

On the island. They were introduced and now there's tons of them. Google tells me it's the most concentrated population in North America.

I asked dh after posting and he's like yeah. A lot out there. Hm you learn something every day.

Now I'm. Going to say randomonium in my head 200 times because it's fun with all those syllables.
