rash all over!!!

I want to scratch my skin off. I have this itchy bumpy sort of hive like rash all over. It.started a couple weeks ago in just small areas. But today it is all over! My stomach, my sides, under my chest. Im going to the drs. Im wondering if it.could be pupps?

Re: rash all over!!!

  • Its good that you are going to the dr. The Dr would be the only one that can tell you what the source/cause of the rash is from. Way better than a bunch of ppl online.
Hope the itchiness goes away and you are able to get some relief.

  • It does sound like PUPPS. I have the rash too & it looks just like what I saw in photos BUT..this is my 2nd baby & the rash is only on the lower half of my belly. Also theres no stretchmarks. Supposedly PUPPS mostly happens to just 1st time moms & on new stretchmarks..so I dont know. My doc was pretty baffled too. She told me to take some Benadryl & also rub either Benadryl or cortisone cream on the rash. I had been using Gold Bond severe itch lotion, which I loved & it really soothed the itch, but she said due to the high menthol content it may not be safe.. Yet the Benadryl has a bunch of paraben in it so what the hell thats not safe either lol!
Ah well. The Benadryl cream works good too & I take 2 of the pills at night before bed, it keeps me from waking up in the middle of the night scratching myself like crazy.
Luckily these rashes are supposed to go away shortly after birth..so it shouldnt be too much longer!
  • I got pp PUPPS last pregnancy (#2) and it wasn't on stretch marks

I developed pupps during the last few weeks of my pregnancy. It went away about 2 weeks postpartum. Doctor told me to take OTC Benadryl and Zyrtec and use hydrocortisone cream. It's a pain to deal with but at least it was temporary. The Benadryl was the only thing that helped to get me through the nighttime.

  • I got this too. My OB said it could or could not be PUPPS so he prescribed me an antihistamine that worked wonders (hydroxzyzine benzoate), and I used Grandpa's Tar Soap. That soap really helps dull the itch! Just lather it on and let it sit for a bit. It worked tons better than benadryl or any OTC cream I tried. I also bought different soap from Target that didn't have any sulfates in it called Shea Moisture and their lotion also and now my wounds have healed. I still get itchy, and I no longer take the antihistamines, but I can ignore it and am so thankful those awful wounds have healed up. Good luck!
  • I just got the official "you have PUPPPS" talk today. I could have sworn it was poison oak until it spread over my entire body (basically) overnight. I got the Grandpas Pine Tar soap, am going to try taking dandelion root and have every OTC itch relief cream or spray! Not a ton of relief so far and nights are the worst. Good luck to you!
