TTC after 35

Mid-Week Chat!

It's mid-week, so let's chat it up!
Talk about anything. A vent, rave, stress, accomplishment, etc. It doesn't have to be TTC related. Let's hear it, ladies!

_________________________________________

This week is a giant ball of anxiety, for me.
A few things:

1) We officially started TTC last night! Poor FI was a little nervous, but when it was over, he was more chill. I think he is just anxious about it, and wanted to make sure "he did it right" as he told me afterward. Haha!

2) The wedding coordinator at the beach resort got married this past weekend, and is on her honeymoon. Fine. What she DIDN'T do was tell the backup coordinator ANYTHING about the wedding. I had to sit on the phone for an hour last night and go over every single detail: decor, food choices, alcohol choices, etc. I was and still am very angry about that.

3) I still have a few things to do/make for the wedding, and only have tonight to do it. My boss won't let me off early to get things done (even though I have NOTHING to do today), so I will sit here until 5pm chewing my nails down to their beds. I also have to throw in a workout and a BDing session.

4) It's supposed to rain on our wedding day. The rest of the week will be 85 and beautiful...but on the day (and of course this is a beach wedding)....RAIN. Not only that, there is a hurricane expected in Mexico next week...right when we go on our honeymoon. I need a glass of wine and a hug.

Re: Mid-Week Chat!

  • Hug and wine!

It will be beautiful no matter the details, superstitious rain on your wedding day means good luck (something about being able to "weather" all trials)!

I have a massive headache, ugh, but for a good reason: Sex!  Yes couldn't sleep so you know best was to spend time in the middle of the night.  I am hopeful dh continues to feel good and our increased sex lasts well into the next week+!
  • Sending you a virtual hug! Your day will be perfect, rain or shine. And your honeymoon will be fun indoors if need be!

My vent is silly....we adopted a beagle when he was 3 months old. He's now almost 7 months old and not housebroken. I'm losing my mind having to clean up pee every other day. Does anyone have any tips????

  • @kelley72 - Hey....nothing wrong with a little sex, headache or not! :)
And thanks, I hope so! I heard if it rains on your wedding day it's a good sign of "fertility". Ironic, or what? Haha!

@Lesliem0901 - No advice on the puppy thing. But man...what a pain! Sorry. :(
Yes....I guess nothing wrong with a little R&R indoors if the honeymoon is a complete bust. I just have a rockin' bathing suit I bought, and want to wear it at least ONCE on the beach!
  • My vent is that H is sick - which means nothing will get done around the house and if he isn't better by the weekend our BDing will be limited. boo.

I managed to get a workout tape in this morning and made it through the whole thing (I'm recovering from a foot injury) -- hopefully that means by the end of the month I can get back to running!!

@lgsdesigner - your day will be perfect! don't worry about the weather because that is truly something you can't do anything about
    ;)
  • @lgsdesigner‌ your wedding will be perfect, even if it rains...and...there's still plenty of time for the forecast to change! So annoying about your planner, though!!

Also...we had a tropical storm/hurricane (can't remember which) come through on our honeymoon and that was one of our best days! We found a bar to hole up in, made a bunch of friends, are and drank too much and watched the storm come across the beach. Granted, it was small storm, but it was still a soaker!

@Lesliem0901‌ do you do any crate training? We had awesome success with my dogs doing that. One of my dogs still hangs out in his crate with the door open even though he's 4 now. Otherwise, consistency and limiting opportunities...even if you don't crate, can you confine him to a single room? With my puppies when they were out of the crate, I actually kept then on leash in the house and had them stay on a blanket I put out for them while we ate/watched tv/cleaned so we could keep an eye on them...less chance to get into trouble and we could watch for potty signs and go outside quick. Good luck!

    @WinoGrrl‌ here's hoping H gets better!

I'm running a 10K this weekend that I'm entirely unprepared for (I plan on "wogging" it). And I'm grumpy because DH is going straight from that to overnight boys trip on a boat--usually I kind of enjoy some me time but for some reason this time has me all grumpy. One thing, it's prime time for all the sex...and the other...I really want to go out on the boat!
Going to make the best of it and work on cleaning our house and taking my horse to his first show--well, we aren't showing, but I'm going to take him off site to get used to being somewhere different and see how he does!

  • @wannabmama23 what kind of horse do you have? We grew up riding every weekend - my mom still has a horse but with only one it's hard to go riding with someone! Sucks about the boat trip in the middle of prime BDing time.
  • @WinoGrrl‌ I have a thoroughbred from the track--he's a rescue essentially (got him for $1 from someone who couldn't handle him). I love him to death. He's super quirky but has a ton of personality. He's had a bit if a rough life so we take things nice and slow and mostly just play around with some low level dressage. Eventually I want a little farm and do trail riding, teach kiddo lessons, rescue a few more horses :) someday...

  • @WinoGrrl - UGH. I'm sorry! FWIW-- I got pg with my DD when my ex-husband was ill. He said "Get on top of me and get it over with"...haha! So yeah. That's how she got here.

And YAY on the workout! Glad you are feeling better.

@wannabmama23 - WOW...a 10K?! You go, girl!! I hope it goes well. Sorry your DH is abandoning you this weekend. But hey-- have some wine, read a book, or maybe...have a girl's night out! If he's out, you should be too!
Oh-- and get some BDing in before the run. ;)

  • @wannabmama23 That sounds great! Having a horse farm was always my mom's dream - but she settled for just having the one horse now and I think that is enough for her!
  • @lgsdesigner‌ - ok, for my wedding it was supposed to HAIL and be crazy stormy. however we had a magical circle of sunshine above us the whole day!  i credit to a mystical technique which is FEED THE EARTH CHOCOLATE.  I buried a couple squares of dark chocolate in the morning of the wedding and periodically (twice) during the day I gave a square or 2 to my flower girl (a true crystal child) to bury it, very serious and important.  Every time there was a feeling of rain coming, I prayed to the Mother Earth and fed her chocolate.

I have done this at other events too and learned from my meditation/shamanic energy healer - Pachamama, the mother Earth, loves chocolate and it is an ancient South American tradition to fend off rain. Bring a bar of chocolate with you!
    TTC#1 since Aug 2013, I'm 37, DH 41.
Maya Arvigo Abdominal massage (daily self care), plus TTC meditations.
I'm very sensitive to diet (gluten, avoid processed foods) and environment. Have a history of inflammation and tendinitis before going off gluten in 2009.
July 2014 - RE Visit #1: Eggs look good, Endometrioma on R ovary, HSG showed blocked R tube close to ovary. DH SA normal
DX: Endometriosis probably the IF cause and gunking up tubes.  Since egg reserve is high, RE says I can wait a couple months and then get laproscopic surgery to remove endo & clear tube.  If that doesn't help then move to IVF.
Dec 2014 - Saw new RE - does not recommend surgery on tube as it isn't likely to help.  Doubts I have endometriosis.  My endometrioma shrunk to neglible size (yay!)
    Seriously considering IVF in March/April
    12/17/14 - Natural BFP!
  • @Radiantly- That's awesome! What happens if I EAT all the chocolate? Because...well...dark chocolate is my weakness. ;)

STUCK IN THE BOX (see below)

Have you been training the dog for the first months, or have you been just taking the dog out every four hours? I'm just curious what hasn't worked.

My dog was potty trained when we adopted her. (Although she doesn't tell us when she needs to go. She just stares us down.) If you haven't done formal training, I would recommend positive reinforcement training. Forgive me if you are already familiar.

Take the dog out as often as your schedule allows. Every three or four hours would be awesome--or start during the weekend. Bring a little bag of healthy treats. Frequently ask your dog to either "go pee pee" or "do your thing" so he learns the command you prefer. Each time your dog goes potty #1 or #2, shout "YESSSSS!" and give the dog a treat immediately. Give lots of pats and make a huge deal. The dog should start to associate going potty with awesome treats and love.

Even though I didn't potty train my dog, she still learned "do your thing" because I take her out directly in front of our house before we go to bed, so I want her to do it quickly.

Good luck and keep us updated!

  • @lgsdesigner Your wedding will be amazing I bet!!! I for one can't wait to see photos!!!!!

@wannabemama23 Oh how wonderful you have a horse..that you rescued!!! I think people who rescue are a special type of person.....I have ALWAYS wanted a horse. My mother almost got me one when i was a kid and decided against it and now there would never be a way we could do it.......i live in a home with no yard as it is and don't ever see  us moving onto a home with horse property although that would be a dream come true.

@leslie0901 I have a chihuahua and they are NOTORIOUSLY hard to potty train. Crating is the only thing that really worked. They do hate it but eventually they realize whining gets them nowhere...lol. We would crate her and take her outside every 2 hours. You have to be very on top of taking them outside often so much that they don't have a chance to go inside.....my dog soon learned that outside was where she went potty. It didn't really take that long once we found this routine worked.

@winogrrl I hope both your foot and your hubby feel better soon.

I have been MIA again because I'm about as fun as a dirty wet mop.

I have failed miserably at temping this month. I have to start over and try again as soon as AF arrives and who knows when that is cause I was so late last month Im not sure when to expect her. FF friend says 2 days ago but thats an estimation  and clearly m cycle is all wonky. whatever......

I have a work relationship that has been going strong for 3 years that is crumbling and a 20+ year friendship that is going down the drains with it. Its not even something I did wrong.....this person just isn't what I thought they were and everything I was hoping that would never happen is. Im a massive wreck of emotions over it.

On the flip side of that I have built new  business relationships that are strengthening and these ones are better than the old one sadly.

The hard thing is I'm overly emotional about the crumbling one.....

Im recovering from heat exhaustion too. 3 days and I just started to feel better last night (2 days at that point) I was shooting a wedding. Over a 12 hour day in over 100 degree summer heat. I could not hydrate as fast as i sweat it out My clothes were soaked and i was literally dripping. My primary photographer who i was shooting that day for suffered heat exhaustion AT the wedding and I had to step up my game and take the reigns. I did and did great and he paid me an extra $100 for the day and i kicked butt.......but i ended up sick the day after! Boo!

I no longer feel like the same person I used to be ladies.

I feel like the upbeat happy crazy girl that was me is gone..........

I need to find my happy again!
    Anyone seen it??? :)

This and what @urmysunshine77 said. Consistent crate training, taking him out every 3 - 4 hours, and immediately after every meal and play session. Also, have you noticed him using the same area of the house when he goes? If so, you need to treat it with an odor neutralizer so it doesn't have the scent association any more.

  • @lgsdesigner‌ My friend got married 12 or so years ago when a big hurricane went through Houston. The church flooded and they had to totally rework the ceremony, but they made it special in the end. Funny thing is, every year it rains on their anniversary :) My point being, you cannot control the weather. Have a back up plan, but do your best to go with the flow. The weather could change between now and then. Hurricanes change trajectory. Who knows what will happen with that, but we do all know you will be a beautiful bride and your day will be a celebration of love.

@wannabmama23‌ Good luck with the race!

  • @KirstenAlecia‌ i was going to say something along the same lines of what @wannabmama23 said but she beat me to it! :) The crazy happy girl will be back, just you wait!  As for being disappointed in someone after 20 years, that must be tough. I've had that happen with people I thought were friends after two or three, and can think of four people who turned out not to be who I had assumed they were. We're no longer friends. I feel sad about it, but at the end of the day, it was my choice and there was a good reason to move on. Still, going through it is rough!
  • @Winogrrl - I wish this place had an instant messenger thingy. That would be sooo much easier!

@Kirsten - I am so sorry. You have been through so much right now, and as the old saying goes "You can only take so much rain, then the sun comes out." I think it's due time you get that sun, and hopefully, it comes through for you. In the meantime-- we are all here for you, and want you to know if you need a hug, I can at least send you a virtual one and also a virtual glass of wine to go with it! ((Hugs))

  • Ladies - thank you so much for all of your potty training tips for my Paddy. My husband purchased a dog gate yesterday, so now he only has access to the kitchen and TV rooms. He doesn't have accidents there--just our living room. I will do better with the positive re-enforcement. We have it down at night, but I'll need to spend more time on it. My other two dogs were so easy to train (both female). I'm hoping once he's fixed we'll see some improvements too. One more month!
