If you had it, what were your symptoms?

Yesterday afternoon I noticed that I started getting flu like symptoms about 4 hours after I pumped. I usually go 5-6 hours between pumping. So I pumped every 4 hours instead. My supply was not good. I usually get 12-13 oz per session. I was getting around 7 oz last night.

I have not had any blocked ducts recently, and I don't see any marks on my breasts. They are a little sore, but they're always sore.

But now I have constant flu like symptoms (not just before pumping), including a temp of 101.5. Is it possible that this is an infection? Or do you think I'm just sick?

Sounds possible. I'd def call your OB or PCP. Hope you feel better soon!

Both times I had mastitis, it was pretty clearly breast-related -- it hurt like the dickens to pump from the affected breast. No redness or externally visible infection-related symptoms. But, I also had achiness, fever spike (102-103+) -- and it came on fast. Basically from fine to a 103 fever in about 4 hours.

Definitely give your OB a call - if it's mastitis, you won't want to wait. It gets ugly fast, and the sooner you can get antibiotics into your system, the faster you'll be on the road to recovery.

I would get recurrent clogged ducts - same boob, same spot - and a couple of those times I started to feel achy and gross but never spiked a fever, so I never went to the dr. I wouldn't feel better again until the clog cleared.

For those who have had mastitis, when did milk production go back to normal?

I'm producing maybe 1/3 of what I was...fever broke on Tuesday night.
