Vulvar varicosities

Yep, that's right. Vericos veins of the vulva. I called my doctor today because I was having pain in my vaginal area, especially when I stood up or walked. The nurse said that was probably what it was and that they could verify at my next appointment. Based on a quick internet search, it most often appears in the 5th month of a second pregnancy. Well, that's me. Apparently it doesn't go away until a month or so after delivery and other than ice and rest there is not a whole lot to make it better. Has anyone else had or even heard of this?

Re: Vulvar varicosities

  • I've read a little about this when I was researching my "down-there" pain during my last pregnancy/post-pregnancy. I don't know if this is what I had since my pain happened mainly when I was lying down.

I'd be interested to see why your doc says about this at your next appointment.

  • This is going to sound nuts but... My sister had this exact thing her last pregnancy and she ordered something like a harness that she wore down there and said it helped TREMENDOUSLY! Look up vulvar harness online and see. Hers did go away after delivery but doc told her to expect it to come back with each pregnancy now!

  • Haha...If you look up the "harness" online...prepare for some wacky results!

I saw that mentioned in a couple of articles. If the doctor confirms next week that is really what it is, I will probably try that.
