TTC after 35

Regular period, not ovulating?

Hi - wondering if anyone has experienced this... I have regular periods every 28-29 days, but is it possible not to ovulate? I have been using the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor for 3 months and my hormone levels never get to the highest peak, nor do they indicate that I am ovulating. Levels have not gone past the second (mid) level. Have a doc appointment at end of month but would like to hear from anyone who has experienced this. Thanks!

I would also highly recommend temping, along with OPKs. I all but gave up on my CBEFM, because it was behaving erratically as well as not showing a peak (and that was the second monitor I tried, the first one wouldn't turn on). Check out FertilityFriend.com - it's very helpful and allows you to easily track your temperatures and add other information to your chart.
  • All good advice. Good luck.

  • I am a former clear blue advanced digital OPK user. They suck! 10+ days of "high" fertility... The blinking smiley. No peak. Comments above re: Wondfos are right. So simple, no fuss.

  • Another advanced digital fail.  The first time was text book, 2 day blinky then next day smiley face. 2nd month with the leftovers, it gave me 4 days of blinking smiley.  I ran out of strips before I could get a high.  Switched to wondfo's and they worked.  The only drawback is I can only test day and night and the CBE work better with FMU than wondfos.  Good luck!

  • I used my monitor for 3 cycles. The first two, I got no peak reading and 10 days of "high." The third cycle, the stupid thing never even gave me a high reading and was still telling me to pee on the sticks when I got my BFP. I agree that regular OPKs are your best bet. Good luck!

  • Switch to Wondfo OPK's and start charting. GL!
  • I also have regular periods, the O test kits say that I am ovulating, but the 21 day progesterone test last month showed that I did not ovulate. I am a little frustrated at my doctor's office right now. I took my 2nd 21 day test last Tuesday and they still have not called me with the results!

Mother of two wonderful boys! Blessed through adoption.

  • @irismorning  Was your blood drawn at 7dpo?  If not then the results are/may not be accurate.  The testing done by ob's is based on the idea that all women ovulate on cd14 which a lot of us do not.  Wish you well
  • Thanks for everyone's feedback and words of encouragement! I will definitely take the advice and hope to have some better results. We have been TTC for 3 years, with some major health setbacks in the middle. Given the clear to start trying again a few months back so we are hoping this is our year. I appreciate all you kind words. <3
