Babies: 3 - 6 Months

What other sleep training methods have you used and it worked?

I have only heard cry-it-out method and I am too tired to research other methods because my LO(6 months old) wakes up 4-5 times a night. He was able to sleep through the night( or just wake up once), then he got sick at day care, so when he woke up multiple times when he was sick, I wanted to reduce his uncomfortness so I brougt him to my breast and nursed him to sleep. Now my husband and I are suffering. Any advice is appreciated!

  • Have you tried having your husband handle the wake-ups?  If LO needs MOTN feeds, you could wake up just once to feed him, then send DH the other times.  He may stop getting up if he realizes he won't get to comfort nurse.

  • When did he get sick?  How long has it been going on?  What happens if you don't nurse him?  This is pretty standard behavior for a LO when they get sick?  If it hasn't been going on long he might get himself righted out.

I think you would be best served by researching (even if you're tired) different methods of sleep training and reading some books on sleep.  6 months is on the young side for sleep training but there are quite a few methods to look into.  I liked Ferber's Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems.  I thought it had a lot of good information.
  • We did The Wait It Out Method :D
