Babies on the Brain

Officially NTNP

So Saturday marked the day of my last BCP.  So far I feel normal, but I'm expecting a nasty AF (I was on the no period BCP).  I'm hoping my cycle gets on track as soon as possible but I know from you all that may not be the case.  As soon as I do get AF, I plan to start temping.  I'm currently reading "Taking Charge of your Fertility" and even for taking sex ed TWICE some of these things are quite new to me.

DH is super excited and I had to calm him down a bit, because we need to buy a house and what not before we TTC.  I am feeling super nervous and a little scared.  It seems like a long time coming to this point and I can only hope everything goes smoothly.

P.s. Am I crazy or is the NTNP group gone?

  • Thanks!  I'm not that new, so yes I've read all the "before you post" links.

  • I am confused I think. You are not preventing pregnancy but you have goals to achieve before trying to conceive? Please don't try until you are ready to conceive. Buying a house can be a long process and you will probably want to be settled first (painting, moving, etc.) before getting pregnant. It took us 2 years in our house to feel ready for a baby because we wanted to finish a lot of little projects and re pad our savings account after that big down payment. It also always seems to cost so much more than you think it will to furnish/decorate a new place to get it feeling like home, and you need a good emergency savings for when the inevitable goes wrong like AC blows or roof gets damaged. I'm sure you've thought of this but I just thought it could help if you haven't.

Anyways - people get pg all the time immediately after coming of bcp. I was on the pill for 5 years and went back to normal immediately. We got pregnant first month trying thinking it would take a few months. A good friend of mine actually hyperovulated immediately after coming off of seasonique (sp?) and got pregnant with twins. She was NTNP and believed it would take several months before they would need to use protection. So 2 babies was a shock they really weren't ready for just because of misinformation.

  • Seems to me she is charting to avoid right now, learning and preparing for when they are ready to TTC

    That's not what NTNP means.
True. I can just relate to her situation (or how I'm interpreting the situation, anyway).
  • @jennypolkadots trust me I have thought of all things you have mentioned and I completely understand where you're coming from.  We're extremely close to our goal in regards to savings and all that.  When it comes to the house I know it won't be easy and our TTC will ultimately be determined by that, and if we're pregnant before then we have a plan in place.

I guess my title was a little misleading because we are using other forms of birth control at least this first month because my OB also warned against hyperovulation.  After I get the charting down then yes, it will sort of be used as a form of BC.  But if it happens we're ok with it.  We're not in a horrible position to get pregnant right now, so we're fine if it does happen.

I did get my period today (WAAAYYY sooner than I thought would happen), so the charting begins!

  • @dietrajade13 -ooooh okay. Based on what you posted it was really unclear. It seemed more like you were just NTNP while house hunting and weren't ready for a baby yet.

Good luck whatever you choose! Many women have no problems getting pregnant quickly after being on birth control.

  • Sorry for the confusion then lol!  I was trying to not write a novel so yes it was a little vague.
