Newbie prefold question- absorbency

Hi. Like I said newbie here. I'm due in a little over two weeks, and preparing my osocozy prefolds. I've washed and dried them 5 times, but when I go to test them with half a cup of water, as recommended on the site I bought them from, the prefold definitely feels wet on the bottom, and sometimes a few drops of water even leak out. Excuse my ignorance, but is this normal? How much is it supposed to absorb? Is it supposed to feel wet, and is that why we use covers? Thanks!
