No Spend Check-In

How is everyone doing this fine Tuesday?

How are you doing with you're goals?

If you are counting, what was you're total for August?  (only the last two weeks)

Since a lot of us are trying to bring food to work, what is something new you'll be trying out this week?

Goal:  What goal would you like to reach for September?

Re: No Spend Check-In

  • I gave in last week and bought lunch on Wednesday.  Other than that I didn't buy anything from the vending machines.  Even though I really wanted a soda on Wednesday I stuck with just a sandwich and chips.

August tally: 9/10 (I'm only counting work days)

This last weekend I made a Quiche, so I'm bringing leftovers for breakfast.  I needed something other than Oatmeal.

Goal: There are 21 work days in September, I'm setting a goal of 19/21 for the month.

  • Since last weeks check in -- we've done perfect! :) so 7/7!

Since I don't work out of the house, it's easier for me on that front.. But DH does a great job taking food/ snacks. So I just have to make sure to make enough leftovers. While its not "healthy" we need to replace the ramen stash at work for him, to keep from spending $$. Also he's a trooper and doesn't mind peanut butter and honey sandwiches.

To keep from spending as much for "personal care" items, I'm trying to write down what we need and estimate those costs ahead of time (like I do with groceries) to keep from spending as much on random stuff. And just to have a inventory understand as well.

My new thing this week for quick meals: make and freeze biscuits! Super easy and now have a dozen in the freezer! Totally making more make and freeze things.

OH! And since this board had started Christmas talk already, if I came up with a "want" I put it on my Christmas list :) I also budgeted for Christmas and ugh.. We've gonna have to be "cheap" this year. Hopefully people don't mind. (I want to make frozen cinnamon rolls for people to bake at their own leisure... Good idea?! Who wouldn't want homemade cinnamon rolls?)

  • Our regular expenses are going to fluctuate a lot this month since we are increasing daycare hours and reducing nanny hours. My goal this month is to build a spreadsheet that shows me what a "typical" month should look like. That should give me an idea of how much money I will have to play with for Christmas.
