should i buy prefolds or flats

I am going to make a diaper purchase today! I mainly use Alva pockets with bamboo inserts, but I often need to double up or use my prefolds as inserts since DD is getting bigger. I do love using prefolds as inserts, but then I use them all up in my pockets and don't have the prefold and cover option. I was going to get more ptefolds, but I started thinking maybe I'd get some flats instead. Any advice us welcome, especially where to buy inexpensively!

Could you buy a few of each? You know you like prefolds so you will get some more and that way if you aren't crazy about the flats you won't have a lot of them.

Flats. I think it's just a bit tidier to be able to adjust the length before you trifold them, as you let out your rise snaps.

I like my prefolds for stuffing pockets, but I always reach for my flats when using covers.  I use flats 90% of the time on the weekends.  

I really like how I can throw 3-4 in a diaper bag and use them as diapers, spit-up rags, blankets, and so on.  They really are versitile.

Flats, they clean up way better in the laundry than prefolds. No stink or ammonia since we switch to stuffing with flats.

both- you already have prefolds, so add some flats.

I wish I just bought flats! IThey are so much cheaper than all of my other diapers.I am only 2 weeks in to cd and know that this work is have been the best way to go! They dry so much faster? Even my H will go to them before a pre fold!

I think you all have me convinced. I'm headed to target, maybe I'll try some flour sack towels. If I can't find any then flats it is!
