Hi Ladies,

I just turned 36 and have been ring to ttc for just one month. If you were about 36 when ttc how long did it take to get pregnant naturally (no ivf) Thanks for your feedback

First month at 39 with ds. Then first month after that but 3 losses. Then first month with this little one! My family have a hx of women getting pg late in life! That being said a lot of my friends on here were not so lucky and have went thru hell and back for their babies. If you try for 3 months or longer run don't walk for testing.
It doesn't get easier . Not to scare you but a lot of women wasted precious time being blowed off by GYN/OB. Good luck! You might want to join ttc after 35 board they are awesome ladies and really support one another!

I was 28/29 with my last dd and it took 6mths. This time it took 4mths. BUT both times I was coming off the pill. With last dd I was on the pill for 5 yrs. With this one I was on it about 6/7 yrs.

Important things - chart/track - learn when you ovulate (not always the same day each month), and how long cycles are, etc. Obviously having sex on days you ovulate will help. And this information will be helpful if you do see an RE (reproductive endocrinologist - your OB/GYN can get you a referral).

I started trying when I was 36. By 4 months in, my gut told me to seek out an RE--which was the best thing possible for me. Took me a total of about 10 tries to get preggers. I would not leave it as it can take some time to diagnose IF and also to find the right tx.

I was fairly obsessive when trying to get pregnant. I charted my temperatures and also used a fertility monitor and sometimes even also used opks, which is just ridiculous, but sometimes my type A personality gets the better of me. Anyhow, doing those things helped me to know that a.) odds were I was actually ovulating and b.) when the best time to have sex was.

I had gotten pregnant rather quickly when I was 34. We had trouble conceiving our second, which we tried for when I was 35 and 36 and ended up doing IVF. But then soon after, I got pregnant again with no medical interventions. It was probably only our second month of not trying to avoid.

I agree with everyone else who said give it your best shot and if within 3-6 months you haven't had any luck, see a doctor. Your regular ob/gyn can do some basic blood work and testing or you can go straight to a reproductive endocrinologist.

Welcome and good luck! I was 33/34 (I got a BFP about 2 weeks after my birthday) when we were trying with our first and it took two months after I stopped taking the pill. I was 35 when we started TTC with #2 and it took the same- 2 months. I got my BFP the day before my 36th birthday. I was convinced that it would take longer the second time around and it didn't.

It took me a year to get pregnant without assitance and then I miscarried. I actually started seeing an RE after 6 months of trying. I charted etc... but it just wasn't happening. I later was diagnosed with DOR ( Diminished Ovarian Reserve) and poor egg quality.

Hang out over on the TTC after 35 board... those ladies are awesome!

I started TTC #1 at 37. Got pregnant the 6th cycle (preseed creates wonders; and I second the importance of charting, temping, and opk's). I lost at 5.5 weeks; after one cycle of break and one BFN cycle, I got pregnant again. 7 weeks now. And all natural so far.
If you look around at career women (lawyers, professors, etc.) you will see a lot of people successfully having their first babies in their late thirties; that should give you hope.

I got pregnant the first month we really tried. I was watching my cycle and that is about it, so I knew when I was ovulating. Really thought it might take awhile. I will be 38 here very soon and I am having my 4th. Had my 3rd at 36 after 2 or 3 months. Just try not to stress it and take care of yourself!!! If it does not happen in a few months maybe see a Dr. Good Luck!!!

I started TTC#1 2 weeks before turning 37. I never once got pregnant naturally or with my eggs. Asking other women when it happened for them won't give you any answers as to when it might happen for you. You just never know who is fertile and who won't be. The general rule is to seek assistance from a doctor after 6 months of trying over 35. In order to maximize your chances during those 6 months, you need to learn when you actually ovulate (or if you ovulate). Many women do not fall into the general "ovulate at day 14" rule and can be completely missing the window they can get pregnant. Read " taking charge of your fertility" and you will learn a lot.

There is just no way to know. You will see every extreme on these boards. DH and I are so lucky, and I know it from seeing so many stories on here and in real life of infertility struggles. We got pregnant very quickly each time. First or second month each time, at 33, 35, 37 and 39. I second others about reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility and charting. I only charted with our first baby, but had I not, it would have taken much longer to conceive b/c I ovulated super weirdly late, and then had all kinds of weird bleeding so I wouldn't have known I was pregnant right away. At 32/33 (conceived & gave birth at 33) it took us about 5 months to get PG. I got PG once I started using cheapie ovulation test strips b/c my cycles weren't predictable.

At 37/38 (conceived at 38) with #2 it took us about 7-8 months (I don't remember when we officially said, "let's go for it." It could have been 7 cycles prior or 8). But we weren't trying that hard in that I wasn't really charting, we weren't using O test strips except on the random occasion when I was curious, etc. But I pretty much knew that May was our month. I just felt like we hit the timing for some reason. It was a very odd feeling.

My husband & I are both 37. Got pregnant the first month trying. Unfortunately, that ended in an early miscarriage. Had a D&C, and tried the month after.... pregnant again! I am now 20 weeks.

We got pregnant 2nd month after VR. Then aloss at 17 weeks. Then most of a year before pregnant again. Everybody is different. Get a work up for infertility. Including SA for hubby. We put mine on Theralogix vitamins, we used Preseed, supplements, OPKs, temping, Fertility Friend,and Instead soft cups as cervical caps to keep sperm in place. And finally Clomid. And we are now 19 weeks. Almost everybody's journey is different... good luck!

You just never know... I got pregnant two weeks before my 37th birthday from ONE try. Literally.

Granted, because of my period tracker app I knew that I was ovulating in 2 days, so there was definitely a chance. But, it was a bit of a shock as I had never before gone without birth control in my life! I'm now 11 weeks.

I was 35 and took me about 7 months to get pregnant, at which time I was 36. I had already been through the testing and new my chances of getting pregnant naturally. At 36 years old, I would defifnately make an appointment to just have your hormon levels checked. You would hate to waste time for something that is easy to fix or adjust.

I think temperature charting and OPKs are standard operating procedure at our (ideal

) age. I am about to turn 36. I charted for two months before trying, used a monitor (which I found unreliable), and OPKs; by the month we started trying (which was the third month I was charting), I could exactly pinpoint ovulation and time intercourse to occur just before. We were still super lucky to get a positive result on the first try (which is lucky at any age) but I'm sure it wouldn't have gone that way without the charting, OPKs, etc. over the previous three months.

I also second the above advice to join the TTC>35 board - the women are great over there. And they will likely recommend using the website FertilityFriend.com which will also teach you about various other ways of recognizing what is going on in your cycle. Best of luck!

Good luck! I agree with PP - go to a specialist sooner rather than later. I wish we did. We were able to get pregnant naturally - but only after I received treatment for endocrine diseases I didn't know I had.

I became pregnant at 36 - about 1 or 2 weeks before my 37th birthday. We had been "not preventing" for about 4 years, and seriously trying for about a year or so until things worked.

I don't think I my issues were related to my age, but I feel I we tried for too long and had disappointment that could have been avoided if both my H and I had just gone to a doctor sooner. I have several endocrine diseases that could potentially cause infertility, but no doctor went as far as to say that any one disease was the actual cause of our infertility. After I started treatment for all of the identified issues, I became pregnant.

We also began seeing a reproductive specialist when I was 36, and found out we were pregnant - without any specialist help - the month before we were going to start trying IUI. The specialist did identify a few new issues with me and that my husband has low motility, so if we decided to have a second (which at this point I am leaning towards no), we may go straight to the specialist.

I was 36 when I conceived and it took about 9 months of trying, which is much longer than it took with my other two (it took me one cycle when I was 27 and about 3 or 4 when I was 33). I think some of it was schedule/work related, but it would not surprise me if some was age-related too. FWIW, my doctor told me I should have come to see him after 6 months.

I conceived my first baby on my 36th birthday. It happened the third month of trying. However I think it really took me that long to understand my cycle and get all of the temping and OPK testing down. Once I knew that I O'd late, we got the timing right :-). For this baby, we were lucky and it only took one try.
