Hi ladies!,

I was on this board in 2010 when I had my first miscarriage and looks like I will be joining you again sadly. We had our rainbow baby in 2012 and just found out after 9 months of trying that i was pregnant again. Sadly at my doctors appointment on Wednesday my doctor said that this was not a viable pregnancy. I am measuing 2 weeks behind. So now i am just waiting to miscarry.

I also have a question for those of you who have had a D&C. Did you have complications? How was the pain afterwards? How long did you have to wait to try again? How was recovery?

My first miscarriage was natural. I have another appointment and ultrasound on wednesday to see if my body is recognizing this as a lost and so far i have had some mild cramping but no bleeding. TO be honest with you I would like to be able to start recovering physically and emotionally instead of sitting and waiting, so i was thinking about going ahead with a D&C. Any advice is appreciated.

I'm sorry that any of us have to be here, but this board helped me tremendously before. I hope for the best for all of us.

Welcome. I'm sorry for your loss. As for the d&c, my pain was minimal after. It's pretty common to not bleed until 3-5 days after the surgery. Most doctors suggest 1-3 periods before you try again.

Definitely let yourself rest for a while after or you could end up with more bleeding and discomfort.

I've never had complications after a d&c.

I had a D&C almost 2 weeks ago. when we found out the baby had stopped growing and no longer had a HB I opted for the D&C because I was showing no signs of mc other than very light spotting. I just felt lime I wanted it over with and couldn't emotionally handle waiting it our. Plus I work an hour and a half from home and was worried about miscarrying at work. Physically the pain from the D&C was not bad at all, the third day after my D&C I had some bad cramping but that was it. I'm 12 days out and still having some light bleeding/spotting which sucks, but no pain. My doctor said to wait 2 cycles before TTC again. As PP said I also recommend the D&C link under the advice & experience thread. I read those before my D&C and found them helpful. Good luck. I'm so sorry you're going through this.
