I'm asking this because we may be moving across the country which means I need to clean out a lot of stuff, not because I am anxious to find out the gender now. What's the earliest you've heard of people finding out the gender? My last two were at 20 weeks, that's why I ask. If this baby is a girl, that means I have a ton of baby clothes I can sell/donate since our first two were boys (well if we move, if we don't I'm not worrying about this at all.)
If this move happens, we're probably going to lose a lot of space (we currently have a 4 bedroom home, but the new city is expensive and I think we might be able to get a 3 bedroom townhouse...but we'll probably rent for awhile, which then we are really limited in space!)
I herd some people can find out at around 13 weeks but I don't think it will be very accurate. I think the earliest is 16 weeks but most doctors would rather have you in between 18-22 weeks as its more accurate.
They have a gender predictor they sell in stores that you can test as soon as 10 weeks but then again I would wait till the ultrasound.
There is also the CVS (Chronic Villus Sampling) that is given if you had birth defects run in the family are over 35 and that right there can determine the gender. But when in doubt, wait it out.
I am having the cell free DNA testing done around 11 weeks, because I am AMA, which will also be able to tell babies gender. Though I don't know how accurate it is that early on. But I have heard that most people can find out gender through ultrasound as early as 16 weeks. All 3 of my babies so far I had the gender ultrasound sometime between 20-22 weeks.

I'm having the harmony test done this week so I'll know next week at 11 weeks what the gender is, it is used to detect chromosomal conditions also but that's not the reason I chose to have it. I do have a friend that works at a radiology center so she had her friend do an ultrasound and she found out at 13 weeks. I think generally it's 18-20 weeks unless you have some kind of hook up. Depending on what your opinion is on testing, maybe ask for the harmony test to find out early? And it's only a couple hundred dollars with insurance.
I think it's generally at 18-20 weeks when you get the a/s done. At least this is what happened last time w/my first. Since I'll be over 35 when I deliver my second baby I'm hoping to get one of the blood tests done for chromosomal issues and it would be great to also find out the sex early, although I don't think they all offer this option.

Thanks ladies! I'll see if my OB will let us go on the early side for the U/S if we end up moving - I just wasn't sure how possible it was. We don't have any flags for the chromosomal tests I'd feel silly doing it just to find out the gender.
I'm crazy paranoid and stuff and even if I found out the sex at 15 weeks I would still hold on to everything, "just in case". We saw several ultrasounds showing a girl, but I still didn't believe it until she came out and I saw it for myself
We found out early by going to a place in the mall at 15 weeks for my first and second. It was one of my favorite things we did, because it was fun and just for us. Both times they said boy, and both times they were right. My friend is pregnant with her 5th trying to get a girl, and they said her baby was a girl at 15 weeks, but her 20 week u/s at the dr said boy, so it's not always right but I think it's fun to go early. We will go again for this baby too.
