Is anyone still using a rock n play for night sleeping?

The RNP is the only place that DS gets long stretches of sleep. He is 17 pounds and 26 inches so he seems a bit crunched in there but doesn't seem to mind. I go back to work tomorrow and will need as much sleep as I can get!

If you are using it, do you plan to continue until your LO grows out of it?

Also, I was cleaning it and took the pad off and it was wet underneath. It wasn't urine. It seemed like condensation. Has anyone experienced this? I'm guessing that's how some of these get mold on them. It's the sunggamonkey one.

Re: Is anyone still using a rock n play for night sleeping?

  • We are still using it but I'm gradually transitioning her to the crib starting this weekend. RNP at night and putting her in the crib after her morning feeding.
  • Loading the player...
  • I used it until about 4 and half months. One night G would arch his back and scream if I put him in it. I moved him to his bed and he slept the same as he did in the RnP. Before that night he wouldn't sleep in his bed at all
  • Yep it's where he sleeps best, I plan to start transitioning out soon so he is sleeping well in a crib when we go to disney world. Never had that problem.
  • Yes he is still sleeping in it. He is 18 lbs 8 oz and 26.5 inches. I think he is about to grow out of it but I'm not ready :( haha

  • Not in it at night anymore. He takes some naps I the rnp but sleeps better in his crib. I was nervous to move him but it went pretty smoothly and he likes to stretch out. No mold or moisture here, I have the snuggabunny
  • He's still in it due to reflux and I'm trying to transition him out of it, but he can't lay flat.

  • We transitioned out of it last weekend and so far it is going well (she still uses it a little during the day).  Have faith.  There is life after RNP. :)
  • Not at night (unless it's a really rough night and I'm desperate) but yes for naps. He wears a magic Merlin suit in his crib for nights.

Does the MM work well for you?

  • Still using the RNP, I can't mentally let him sleep anywhere else. (I refuse to accept that he's as big as he is...) His feet are starting to hang off the end a little but he does sleep EXTREMELY well in it. I also did get some nasty, stinky condensation too, I just washed the liner and put it back in! Worked out just fine
  • We are still using it too. We did try to transition into the crib, but she screamed bloody murder after 5 minutes. Hopefully we can try again in a few weeks

  • Thanks for all the feedback. I think I will give it a try this coming weekend. It's good to know that I'm not the only one still using it and that some have transitioned easily!
  • Still using it, not in a super hurry to move him out. I try naps in the crib and PNP here and there, and I'll transition out of the RNP when he seems ready. I think I'd like to get him in his room and crib by around 6 months. But we'll see!

This. My experience with ds1 was that there will come a point when lo is just ready for the change. Just keep trying the crib on occasion. A day will come when it just seems to work better than the rnp.
  • We transitioned and sleep trained about 1 week ago due to one if my girls getting too big for it and arching her back and sliding down. I was worries she could fall out. ( i never used the buckle).

The transition was far smoother than expected. I had tried for naps before and failed miserably. I think they were ready to stretch out. We went cold turkey and so glad we did. Still using rnp for story/sing time and to bottle feed both twins together but not for sleep.

  • Well I will be trying the crib tonight because he was up just about every hour last night and today is my first day back to work. So tired...
  • Still use the RNP and he's a big guy too -- close to 20 lbs and 26+ inches. Considering attempting the transition soon bc DH's snoring started to bother him and I don't want him in the RNP in his room alone (he sometimes tries to turn in it when he wakes up).

  • I'm keeping DS in the RNP until he physically won't fit.  He only every sleeps for stretches longer than 1 hour in it.  I have no idea what I'm going to do when he grows.  He's a long baby too!  His little feet already stick out, but I swear he is more comfortable in the sheep sleeper than anywhere else!
