xp impetigo/sores near mouth- bandage/dressing rec?

DD got impetigo & the blistered area is near the corner of her mouth. I am assuming her school will be ok w/ her going  since she'll be almost 48 hrs into antibiotics but I am sure they'd like to see it covered regardless and I wouldn't mind it being covered at home in the hopes no one else gets it in the next day or two...
But the location is tough, she's a pretty compliant kid (she's 5) so if I put a bandaid on there she will probably not mess with it but none of the options seemed really great for that location in terms of comfort & eating/drinking (I got the waterproof kind hoping maybe it would hold up a little better. Any ideas or creative solutions if you've had a kiddo w/ some kind of sore/rash close to the mouth?
Thanks!

  • Will a small circle bandaid do the trick? I hope it's resolved soon!

  • The spot is a little bigger than those unfortunately though I'm thinking maybe in a day or two when it is drier it might...
  • It should dry up very quickly with treatment. Did you get a prescription for ointment or oral antibiotics? The school may have some policy about impetigo.  Or your pediatrician can give you specifics on when it is ok to return to school.

  • We are doing oral antibiotics, I talked ot the urgent care dr & paged our practice to discuss pros/cons of each. She will have been on them for 48 hrs before going back to school so I think it will be fine, similar to pink eye & similar infections the rule is 24 hrs of antibiotics. But I wanted to keep it covered regardless at least for a day or two at school. Unfortunately she react to the bandaid adhesive & now has another red mark from that ugh...
  • Thanks! I decided to leave it off today as long as the school would allow it so it could get some air & dry up a bit and so she wouldnt continue getting irritated by the bandaid..thankfully they were cool w/ it since she has been medicated for 2 days and it went well so we'll keep doing that unless she asks to cover it for some reason.
