So I just found an article saying that the sperm of your baby's father may actually help your pregnancy symptoms when ingested (orally or vaginally). It says that it helps build up a tolerance to his genetic material and can make you feel less sick. Any merit to this? Thoughts? Here is the full article if you'd like to have a read.
Considering I already grew one of his babies you would think my body would be well versed in his genetic material! I'm more likely to adhere to the old theory that MS is caused by the fluctuation of hormones your own body causes.
When reading a research study or any article in general and you are trying to determine if you should believe it or not you want to look for a few things, non of which were found here in this article.
Who published the article: is it a reliable scientific journal? These journals will scrutinize the study for you.
Was a randomized study done; meaning were some people getting the semen and others getting a placebo. In this case one person felt better. Maybe she was entering her second trimester when we all feel better.
You also want to look for a large sample size I.e more than one person.
When it is one random psychologist where no background is give (school, previous research) this is usually a dead give away that the article is a waste of your time and has no relevance.
As soon to be moms I think it is important for us to know the difference between reliable and crazy talk. There is so much crazy talk available over the internet.
My husband read the title over my shoulder and got excited. I've had pretty severe ms. We are on doctor's orders that we can't have sex, so my silly husband thought that this would mean he'd be getting lots of "mouth hugs" in my quest for relief of ms.
I shot that delusion down very quickly. NOT HAPPENING.

Am I the only one that wants to have sex here? We just wait until the nausea has subsided. I may be sick half the day, but I'd be a hell of a lot crankier if I didn't get some every day or so.
Also, biologically, the idea intrigues me. I honestly don't know if it's true or not. But to think that the sperm that created your baby could actually help ease some of your symptoms is really cool.
Whatever the truth of the matter is, I'll just let my husband keep believing. He likes the idea of being able to help me and not just standing by while I'm in pain or heaving.

Definitely worth doing more research.
Biologically, it shouldn't intrigue you. It's progesterone that's making you sick, not mysterious DNA floating around in you. And even if it were somehow this magical DNA's fault, the idea that vaginal sex could help you in any way makes no sense. Your vagina does not digest or absorb sperm. It kills it and spits it out. Additionally, you're not getting the same sperm that made your baby. That gamete is genetically unique.
All that aside, I'm not trying to make fun of you, OP. I'm just letting you know that there really isn't any legitimate scientific backing to this at all. Have all the sex you want, but your partner's semen isn't going to cure you of anything.
I really didn't think when I read this thread that OP thought this may be true. In addition to all of the reasons @aggiedaner just gave orally injesting sperm only leads to an unfortunate interaction with your stomach acid. Additionally the article read as though it was written by a third grader, which in my mind does not give any merit to its scientific value. If having sex is beneficial to you and your DH, more power to ya, but to investigate this load of BS for scientific authenticity is a colossal waste of time!
A man had to have written this. My H always jokes that giving BJs will help whatever ailment I have. No way in hell will I be sharing this article with him.
I've tried for 20 minutes to find the original Gordon Gallup article about morning sickness and semen and all I can come up with is semen as an antidepressant. Also a bunch of hoey. If anyone finds the original article published by Gordon, let me know.

You are definitely not the only one on here who loves sex. It's usually a daily occurrence for us. I say if it works for you go for it. Everyone finds their own tricks to make it through ms. If nothing else you'll both be relaxed and happy

In all seriousness I really hope it works
Wouldn't be suck if you weren't carrying a baby, right? So technically it is foreign genetic material? Partially his haha.
