Help

My 7 year old will be going to grade two starting on Tuesday...
He is a picky eater and I was hoping some of you would have some incredibly easy and great tasting ideas for me!!
Thank you

Re: Help

  • He is not aloud to bring pb&j nut allergies in his class!

  • We did lots of roll ups. Tortilla with cheese and meat inside. I would take a piece of reg lunch meat and rip it into strips and do the same with one or two slices of cheese. This is more fun than a sandwich to my DS. You can also just throw shredded cheese into them. I have more but my mind is blank, I will return with more suggestions.
  • There are some good ideas here:

DS likes the turkey roll-up sandwiches from Costco, quesadillas, string cheese, hummus and veggies, and applesauce or Craisins.
  • DS2 finally recently outgrew his dairy allergy. He was well past the point when the majority of children do. I'm hoping your LO outgrows his quickly @scoutnumbers05.

And yep, there's dairy in so many processed foods. Until DS's allergy, I was completely unaware. His room at preschool wasn't dairy free. They just didn't feed him snacks containing it and I sent in a backup for him. That made it a little easier for parents.

  • Lots of good suggestions here! I'm dreading kindergarten next year because DS doesn't eat any lunch meats or cheeses. The only sandwich he will eat is Nutella or peanut butter. Neither of my kids eat lunch meats or cheese. DH and I are sandwich freaks so I totally don't get it. I have a year to try to widen his meal variety.
  • Having a kid with allergies would be so hard. I know I have accidentally sent an item to school that had peanuts in them and the school
Sent it back with a note saying contains nuts please don't send again. I felt so bad!! The dairy one would be so hard to get around! With these allergies it makes packing lunches so much harder but I would hate for something my son brought to school kill or send someone's kid to the hospital
