Baby Names

struggling

Hi ladies- im Ashley, 32.5 weeks pregnant with #3, our first little girl.. husband and I are having a HORRIBLE time naming this little girl. So much so that when referring to her, we call her baby no name :( I absolutely adore the name Hattie and he hates it. Our middle name is set in stone, Mae after his grandma who passed away a year ago. He likes Ava, Ella (both are way too popular for my taste) and Allison (which is completely random to me because it is just very late 1980s to me) and he ddoesn't see how I can like Hattie and not like Allison.. our boys are Colin & Brock, so their names are not super common but are also not totally out there either and I want to follow that path with our daughter, but the struggle is real!! So basically I'm open to any and all suggestions! Thanks!

Would he go for Harriet nn Hattie? It also has the benefit of her having a full name to fall back on later in life, i.e. When she starts working.

  • My husband's name is Brock and I love his name!

But- I think Allison is very sweet. Yes, it reminds me of 1980's as well....but so what. You could always call her Allie (precious). Also, I have seen Ellison here recently. That is sweet too!

I think there is a difference between a common name, a trendy name, and a name that is "on fire".

Hattie is also very sweet and I love it, but I think a lot of people like it too. In my little social world, Hattie is pretty trendy. Not "on fire" yet.....
  • Ruby, Violet, Nola, Lily, Margaret (so many nice nns for Margaret)

  • DD is Allison, so I am prejudice.  But, Edith (Edie) Mae would be so nice.  What about Harriet, Ester, Catherine, Margaretha with the NN of Hattie.
  • Hadley and call her Haddie
  • Thea Etta Greta Ophelia

  • I agree that Allison is very dated next to your sibset and Ava and Ella are too popular for it.
I also can't stand the nn Allie...reminds me of a dirty cat.
I love the suggestion of Etta and Clara.
Clara is on our short list as well.
Have you considered Mae as the first name?
