We have a nanny who watches my 2 sons (8 months and 2.5 years) and the neighbor's 1-year-old. We pay her at a three kid rate for all day, even though my son is in preschool for half days. She takes my son to preschool every day and the other two kids come along for the walk. When I signed my son up for Montessori half days M-F, I did not realize that the local Catholic school also has a preschool. Montessori did not have a part-week option. So, I thought it was all or nothing. It is about $1000 per month and my son has been going only a couple months. Anyway, I just found out the local Catholic school has a "pre-pre-school" program for kids who have not turned 3 by the beginning of the school year. It would be 1/2 days only two days per week and would cost only $350 per month.
I feel really horrible about switching him so soon. I am afraid to tell current preschool that we are leaving. He is not too stressed by new situations or new people, but I also feel bad about making him make another adjustment so soon. And I also wonder whether 2 mornings a week is enough school until he is 3.5 and would qualify for the real pre-school they have there. But I'm sure they'll have more days open up eventually. Any thoughts? Thanks!
ETA: I forgot to add that 5 days a week at the new school would be about $600.

Re: Switching pre-school after only 2 months? And how much school does a 2-year old need.
I wouldn't worry about how educational a program is for that age.
My kids are home with DH during the day. DD1 starts 3 year old preschool this year and it's 2 mornings a week.
I just talked to the new school and they probably won't have an opening on the other 3 days.
