Late Term and Child Loss

PgAL check in 8/29

Good Morning ladies and happy Friday!

I hope everyone has been doing well this week!  Every week that passes is a wonderful milestone. Feel free to post any questions you may have.
How far along are you?

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?

QOTW: Do you plan on having a baby shower for this little one?

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?

Re: PgAL check in 8/29

  • How far along are you? 13 weeks

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? NT scan was yesterday.  Fluid behind neck looked good; now just waiting for blood test results to come back.  I have an ultrasound every Thursday, so hopefully we will know at our 14 week ultrasound.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Ice tea.  I try not to drink a lot of it, but it gets rid of my headaches!

QOTW: Do you plan on having a baby shower for this little one? NO, omg, no.  I keep thinking of how the invitations went out for Conner and Ben's shower the week before I had them.  And I really am terrified of people acting like this is my first bay when it is really my third. I just can't see myself getting ready for this baby just yet... and honestly, I doubt I'll feel differently until we hit the big 30.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? WHY ME GOD WHY ME.  I'm sorry, I sound like a whiny brat right now.  NT scan found a placental bleed yesterday and of course, I am freaking out.  Trying to "take it easy" and be a couch potato. Hoping it resolves on it's own but seriously... its one thing after another and I'm so scared of what the future brings for this little one.
  • How far along? 29 weeks and 5 days

Upcoming appointments/milestones: We have a biweekly appointment next week and our hospital tour too (my doctor just switched). We had an ultrasound this week and got to see a 3d of our sweet boy. He was very stubborn with his awkward breach position but so in love with him. I must have annoyed the ultrasound person with my questions.

Symptoms/cravings/aversions: Always hungry and some heartburn.

QOTW: No shower here. Makes me so nervous so my best childhood friends are going to do a weekend here instead. Much more intimate.

Open topic: I had a breakdown the other night when I woke up and realized that I didn't feel him for a while. Turns out I went to bed early and that's the time he usually moves most so I missed it. It still freaked me out and I was hysterical so I drank lots of cold water and tried to get him to move. I was even scared to check him on the doppler. He finally did move but it's crazy how I can go from feeling reassured to not in a matter of seconds.

  • @ikrystal Hugs to you. I know how scary it is to get alarming news from an ultrasound. I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you.
  • @chickinnh I have also felt guilt about not feeling connected to my son after all we went through but as my pregnancy has been progressing that bond has developed more and more. My therapist once told me to think about the idea that not feeling attached won't make it hurt any less God forbid anything happens and that is very true at least for me. It's totally normal to put a guard up especially early because you sadly know all too well what it's like to lose a child. Do what you need to do for you to get through this time and I promise you that your baby will only know love regardless. Hugs to you.
  • How far along are you?   5 weeks and 5 days

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?   1at OB appointment is Sept 15th. I will be 8 weeks and 1 day then. Had another round of beta for peace of mind. I won't get the results untill Tuesday.  :(

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?   Nothing really for either which always has me worried. I guess I might have mood swings.

QOTW: Do you plan on having a baby shower for this little one?   Don't know. Have not thought that far ahead.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?    Just want my first U/S so I can know at least the baby is in the right spot and hopefully has a heartbeat. I really can not stand this waiting.

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Next appointment isn't until Sept 24. That seems really far away right now.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? I'm still feeling sick a lot of the time.

QOTW: Do you plan on having a baby shower for this little one? Probably not. We've already had showers for DD and Nathaniel and really don't need anything for this baby.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? We started telling people on Saturday. So far all family knows, DH's work people, and a few friends. I'm glad they know now and wish everyone else just knew. I don't like being the center of attention so it's hard for me to tell people, especially in person.

This is how we told people.

@ikrystal hope everything clears up! I will be praying for you and baby. I love ice tea and a nice cold coke with crushed ice of course. Oh yeah, I'm still waiting on a phone call from the surgery coordinator regarding the BIG DAY. I will keep you all posted.

@jess123456 i'm with you on the killer heartburn, it's enough to make my eyes water, lol.

@chickinNH it's so hard to get attached in the beginning, in due time it will happen. Don't feel bad ((hugs))

@BrittianyM ((HUGS)) Sept 15TH will be here before you know it!

@aragosta Keeping you, Will and Dh in my prayers, you are right behind me, we ARE getting close!

@dadalou I love your announcement and I love how Nathaniel is included, how beautiful

How far along are you? 36 weeks 3 days ... 2 Weeks 4 days to go

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Ob appt next Tues then Bi weekly Nsts. I'm supposed to have a BPP soon.

any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Lower back pain and sleep issues. But I feel great! (lol)

QOTW: Do you plan on having a baby shower for this little one? Yes... Sept 6 is the big day I was so anti-baby shower in the beginning. I was going to wait until after baby was born and then have a welcome shower. With having a C-section and all and being extremely exhausted, I don't think I will be up to partying it up after.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? I honestly don't know how i'm going to get through these next few weeks. I am emotionally and physically drained. I am so tired and I have zero energy. I'm becoming so frustrated and stressed out. AND I STILL have lots to do.

DS2 born still 8/28/13 at 32 weeks via emergency c-section due to a complete placental abruption - cause unknown
Baby #3 on the way, EDD 2/29/16.  Originally twins, but we said goodbye to Baby B at 8 weeks.
  • How far along are you?  9 weeks tomorrow

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?  My first OB appt in on Tuesday!

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?  Aversions abound! They change every day, sneaky baby!!!   This morning MH and I went to Starbucks for a quick breakfast. I got a small Greek yogurt w/honey and a chocolate croissant. The croissants are my FAVORITE!!!  (they remind me of being in Europe...I had one every morning when we last visited!). So baby LOVED the yogurt , I ate it and scraped the container but when my croissant finally got to me..... BLECH, one bite and I thought I was going to lose my yogurt on the Starbucks floor. Well...at least baby prefers healthy food today. hah.

QOTW: Do you plan on having a baby shower for this little one?  With Jack I made sure to rally the troops to plan our baby showers and even sent over the guest lists to my family members that volunteered to throw them. I gave them theme ideas and dates that worked for me/MH....I was a Mom-zilla. This time I'm not going to object if someone wants to throw one but I'm not going to force the idea...plus my guest list hasn't changed. If they throw one they throw one, if not that's ok too. We have a crib, a rocker, a month of diapers, some gender neutral onesies, and one bottle that we had for Jack ....we'll survive :)

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? Jack as always. I'm trying to force myself to think more about this baby. I'm feeling guilty that all my thoughts and energy always goes to Jack and wishing he were here.... I'm worried that if I keep this up, this baby is going to constantly feel less important to me than Jack is. My Mom always told me if she had 12 kids she would love all of us equally (I'm an only child) ...but I'm wondering if that's true. Its so hard to divide your love equally....if that makes sense?

  • Thank you all for your support :)

jess123456 I do the same thing to our poor ultrasound tech.  But we can't help it, and I'm sure they are used to it.  I'm sorry you had that scary moment but so glad that everything turned out okay.  I would have freaked out, too.  I think the idea of your friends coming in for an intimate get together is a great plan and I hope you all have fun!

chickinNH I had those same feelings of guilt for awhile.  I kept thinking, poor baby C, with his/her parents still grieving.  But now with everything that has been thrown at us, I think of baby C more than I think of Conner and Ben.  Either way, there is guilt.  We're not perfect.  Be kind to yourself.  You love both of your babies, and it shows.  FX for a great next ultrasound!

BrittianyM FX that your beta comes back Tuesday with high numbers.  I didn't have much to show for symptoms until about week 10 with this baby, so maybe it is just too early right now.

aragosta I had to laugh a little when you said he was grounded when he gets here.  I'm sure he gave you quite the scare!  One of my boys had an anterior placenta which meant I couldn't feel him as much, so I know what it is like to worry about movement.  I like the idea of a meet the baby party.  Everyone will want to see his cute little face!

dadalou cute pregnancy announcement!  I love the announcement that include the angel babies. I'm sorry you are feeling sick and I hope that it starts to subside!

jonahsma I'm sorry you are in pain and so exhausted!  I can only imagine how busy you get with trying to prepare for the baby and trying to manage all the symptoms that come with being so close to your due date.  Have a GREAT time at your shower and FX for a safe and healthy next few weeks!

kflynn81 I completely understand what you are saying.  Like how is it even possible to love anyone just as much as the baby you already have?  I guess we will find out... Also, I got weird old school french music in my head when I read about your trip to Starbucks.
  • ::lurking::

@kflynn81 - what they always say about a parents love multiplying versus dividing I would say is totally true. I love both of my boys so much, and in no way did my love for my older son diminish after Colton was born. There is a quote I love regarding angel babies and siblings - "your love for the first magnifies your love for the second, and vice versa." You value your children so much more after losing a baby. You parent a living child differently than an angel baby, because you have no choice, but that doesn't change the love that you feel.

  • Hi ladies, totally late to the check in!

    How far along are you?
    7weeks

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?
ultrasound on Wednesday! Get to see our baby blob

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?
nausea, mostly in the afternoon/evening, increased appetite. Craving OJ like I did last pregnancy. Increased sense of smell and peeing like crazy!

QOTW: Do you plan on having a baby shower for this little one?
Probably not. Maybe a little get-together but we have pretty much everything we need and I think it would be to anxiety provoking for me.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?
I saw the most gorgeous, vibrant huge rainbow today!! I took a pic but it didn't do it justice. It was like a rainbow and a half...it went on forever!!! Made me cry. :)

  • @ikrystal Sorry about the bleed...I hope it resolves quickly! (which I'm sure it will!)

@jess123456 ugh, so scary about movement. I'm sure thats when my anxiety will be at my highest. I'll be getting a doppler in a few weeks, and while it will be a great tool it will be so scary to put on!

@chickinNH I totally get it. I'm happy about this baby but just so cautious and still don't feel it's 100% yet! I'm journaling to him/her which I feel helps

@dadalou Love the announcement, so cute :) We'll be announcing this week once we have our next ultrasound

  • shandorfml2 You're not late to the check in!  I think because I post it on Fridays, it takes a little longer for some people to respond. Good luck at your ultrasound on Wednesday!  How exciting :)  and how great that you saw that rainbow - I think many of us here have a soft spot for them.
  • Hi everyone!

    How far along are you?
    9 weeks 2 days

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?
Anolther ultrasound next week, just a "calm my nerves" check in

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?
nausea, all day but extra in the afternoon/evening. I had that last time but it was more in the morning. Evening sickness isn't any fun, but it makes work easier at least.

QOTW: Do you plan on having a baby shower for this little one?
No, since Lincoln was full term we had all our showers and have everything we'd need, other than gender specific stuff if this is a girl. The only exception is that my husband's friend said he wants to throw him a diaper shower. We had a ton of diapers saved up for Lincoln that we couldn't bear holding on to so we donated them to a women's shelter, so his friends want to replace them.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?
It's September, which means Lincoln's birthday is coming up in 2 weeks. His golf outing is this weekend so I'm just going to try to focus on the positive in that, but I have a feeling it's going to be a rough couple of weeks.

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Regular appointment next Wednesday

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? All of a sudden my boobs have decided to explode over the last few days.  So weird because they didn't really change or get sore at all for the first 13 weeks.

QOTW: Do you plan on having a baby shower for this little one? Probably no baby shower since we just had a couple for our son and  almost all of our stuff is still brand new.  A few friends have mentioned having another shower, though, so I was thinking maybe just a small celebration, no gifts.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? We found out that our rainbow is a girl!  I am kind of in shock, I'm just so used to being in a boy mode, but I'm coming around :)  We are actually very happy, especially since she seems to be doing well!

  • Mel&John2013 I think a diaper shower is a great idea, and it is so sweet that your husband's friends what to replace the ones that you donated.  I'll be thinking of you and your family as Lincoln's birthday approaches.  I know it must be a tough time, just know that we are all here for you!
