WWYD sleep/eating help needed

We had J sleeping in until 6:30 this month until I started work this week and now he's not eating dinner very well which results in him waking up WAY earlier to want to eat!!!! Yesterday was the worst resulting in him getting up at 3:00, 4:00, and 5:00 for a bottle and then 5:45 for the day to eat a full banana and an Eggo waffle.
I know part of the problem is that J comes home from daycare STARVING at 4:30. So he'll eat a lot when he comes home and then doesn't want to eat at 6:00. He still has an 8 oz bottle before bed but it doesn't tide home over for the whole night.
So WWYD? Make daycare feed him more? Feed him actual food at 3 am? I'm at a loss.

Re: WWYD sleep/eating help needed

  • Does daycare give him a snack in the afternoon (after nap before you pick him up)?  I would see if he can have a bigger afternoon snack so that he isn't starving at 4:30 but is hungry again by 6:00.  Or I would offer him less at his 4:30 snack so he is more hungry by dinner.

  • Ask DC to give him a small snack before pick up and give him another small snack when you get home. We normally give a couple of apple or veggy straws or few gold fish to tied him over to dinner. Nothing big or filling and he usually does pretty good at dinner.

  • I should have mentioned that. He gets a snack at DC at 3:30. She says he doesn't eat lunch well because he is too tired but eats snack like a champ because it's after nap.
So all day he gets breakfast, snack, lunch, and another snack at DC and then I pick him up and he wants another snack at home!
  • I also think that there is going to be some adjustment since you just started work this week. He needs to adjust to their nap time, lunch schedule, snack schedule, etc. I am betting that his lunches will increase once he gets into their routine.

  • I might try giving him dinner when you get home rather than a snack if you're able to. My LO can't make it much past 5 waiting for dinner. His bedtime is 7 though.

  • We do a bedtime snack w/ a cup of milk. Like crackers, low sugar so no fruit :-)
