Has anyone used receiving blankets as flats. Are they as absorbent as actual flats?

I tried this one time, but not regularly. It was actually more absorbent than my FST. I think the biggest issue is flannel is harder to snappi, and if it does work it may cause holes. But pins work well and pad folding would too.

I'd give it a shot.  They would be a little bulkier than flats.

For the record, I used wipes to boost my NB prefolds.  They were just flannel and worked pretty well.

I find mine bulky so I don't use them so much. Maybe in the winter.

That was when I did a kite fold. I've switched to the origami for longer tails. I should try again.

I have the worst spatial ability (it takes me forever to figure out a sewing pattern or 3d puzzle) and it's not too hard

I liked the kite fold for ds when he was smaller but now I like the origami. You'll figure out your own and modify as well.

YouTube was awesome for learning folds! Way better than pictures!!

We like:
The kite fold
The oragami fold
And anteater (modified oragami fold-- it's awesome!)
The diaper bag fold (I don't care for this as much anymore, but it was the first fold I liked -- it stays together really well)

No experience OTB yet (he's still hanging out in utero) but Hubbs and I have been practicing our folds. Watching videos has been the easiest way for me to figure them out.
