4) How are you feeling?
I think I have a mild cold.  It has me sleeping 11-12 hrs a day now.  Other than that, I still have fatigue and nausea.  I have my house back after construction & guests, so I'm happy about that

5) Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?

I went in for an appointment on Thursday.  The fetus was doing some gymnastics on the US.  That was pretty exciting to see.  I got my blood drawn for Verifi plus some other carrier testing.  So, I'm gonna have ants in my pants until I get the results.  I'm soon transitioning to the second trimester..  yay!

My doc's office also explained that they offer a payment package to people with no maternity coverage.  It's a lot of money overall but we get it broken down into a monthly fee so it works out great for us and we get peace of mind knowing what to expect until our insurance kicks in with the new year.

QOTW:  If you could have an all-expenses-paid dream vacation, what would it be?

I think I would like to go on one of those space tourism trips.  It's a fantasy of mine, but DH thinks it's crazy.  A less fantastical one that DH and I will probably go on when our kids are old enough is a trip to Newfoundland to go kayaking with whales and get up close to glaciers.

Much better than last week.  I'm having a lot of RLP this week- thankfully the zaps are quick, but they are painful. 

5) Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?
I had an appointment on Monday- everything looks great and he was head down.  I'll go back when I'm 36 weeks (so about 2 1/2 weeks from now).  We start going every week after that.

@NeonNoon- we did the Verifi test- super simple and it took about 7 days to get our results.  The best part is that you can elect to find out the sex so we knew that we are having a boy at 99% accuracy by 14 weeks.  There was a snag between the lab and our insurance so I received a bill- it was $1500!  The people at the lab were super nice and resumitted our claim so hopefully our insurance pays.

Physically feeling pretty good. Have very few, mild symptoms. Which brings me to... emotionally, I am worried all the time about lack of symptoms and baby not developing, and all...

Have firsts U/S appt in 2 weeks.
DH has regressed to a baby himself these days, and I can't stand it. Has such an emotionless face whenever anything about (my) pregnancy comes up that I want to punch him. Oh yes, we both want this baby. But he seems to have growing up fears and he doesn't know it.


QOTW:  If you could have an all-expenses-paid dream vacation, what would it be?
A beach resort vacation where I can just eat, sleep, lie down under the sun all day. Not too hot. Hawaii would be nice. But I am so tired from a great summer vacation far away (and just the regular pregnancy exhaustion) that I don't want to fly far.

4) How are you feeling?
I have actually been feeling pretty good this past week (except yesterday, stomach ache). Thankfully it seems that some of my symptoms are beginning to subside! I'm still pretty tired (or get worn out very easily!), but the nausea and soreness have calmed down a lot! The food aversions are still pretty strong though! :-S

5) Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?
I had my 10 week U/S last week (so great to see baby again, great HB) and MaterniT21 blood work done, which usually takes 7-14 days, OB told me they were coming back in about 7 business days recently but I got my results back in 4 and have been been in shock for the past 2 days!! The chromosomal stuff came back negative (yay!!) and found out we're having a boy.  A boy?? I wanted to know so bad, but for some reason I wasn't expecting a boy... not that you can expect anything really, but wow, a boy... why does this shock me? I have no idea!! Was anyone else in shock like this?

My next appointment is next week w/ OB, follow-up I guess and from here on out, will be about every 4 weeks, but for some reason, I thought they did U/S every time, but was sadly informed that they do not, they just check heartbeat with doppler at each OB appointment. What a bummer! Oh, FTM silliness. My anatomy scan will be @ 19 weeks, so looking forward to that next!

QOTW:  If you could have an all-expenses-paid dream vacation, what would it be?
I would love to go to Australia and New Zealand and hop around and see all the sites. I've never been out of the US really (other than a cruise to the Bahamas where we were off the ship for ~5 hours). I still want to see Europe and go to Egypt and see all the amazing wonders of the world. Hopefully we'll be able to afford to see the world with our kid(s)!

@NeonNoon Oh wow!! That sounds exhilarating! Scary as hell, but would be amazing!   I'll take both of your trips too! The whales and Bora Bora @MsMacual!

Better but I am still getting sick about 3 times a week... I thought it was supposed to end by 14 - 16 weeks!  Oh well.  I definitely have more energy than the first tri and the nausea is essentially gone.  I don't feel like I did pre-pregnancy - which somehow is how I thought I would feel in the 2nd tri since everyone has been telling me it is the best trimester in terms of how you feel.  

5) Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?
We have our anatomy scan this coming Tuesday - so I am excited about that! (though we will remain team Green).  

QOTW:  If you could have an all-expenses-paid dream vacation, what would it be?
We just returned from vacation so it is hard to think about another one so soon (since travel when pregnant is definitely a little more tiring than before)... but I would say maybe the Galapagos or Antarctica - 2 places that I am not sure I will otherwise ever get to see.

Congrats on the all-clear @mdogan29, and on the boy!  I suppose knowing the gender adds another element of reality to the pregnancy.  It's crazy how soon we can find out these days.

Welcome and congrats @snflowr14.  In our case, it didn't really sink in for DH until he saw the heartbeat at the first US.

@Samuelismomma, I had the belly button pain last time! Totally sucky. I wonder if I'll get it again. It suddenly resolved after a couple weeks. Good luck!

January 9, 21 weeks, carrot (? weird)

4) How are you feeling? Pretty good overall. Having trouble, as with every other time, with being lightheaded and short of breath after breakfast in the morning. Also, exhausted every day by the kids' naptime and sometimes have to nap or at least close my eyes a bit.

5) Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?

Had my anatomy scan. Everything was really good except for a bright spot on the heart. Quad screen was good so my Down's risk is still only 1 in 700, but I still wish we'd been totally "clean." Also, we are TEAM PINK. We were really hoping for a boy for a brother for DS, and for the overall family balance/dynamic, but of course "as long as it's healthy" we're happy. Also, I can feel the baby (finally!) as of about 10 days ago and that's really nice.

QOTW:  If you could have an all-expenses-paid dream vacation, what would it be?

I'd love to stay in one of those over-water bungalows in Fiji. Or Hawaii is wonderful.

4) How are you feeling? Feeling much better this week but I need to be on antibiotics until I deliver. Bummed because they cause wicked bad yeast infections.

I went to the Dr on Wednesday and she told me that the likely reason I keep getting UTI/kidney infections, because the uterus has grown so much that it is pressing on the ureter, which drains the kidney into the bladder and kinking it which in turn causes infections!  Damn large uterus!! I also found out because I'm AMA I have to do weekly NST which is just one more thing that I either have to find child care for or take time off work.  I also have to go in for another ultrasound not sure why (I'm sure it's age related).  I'm off to Montana to visit my godson and his family so I'm excited about that.

QOTW:  If you could have an all-expenses-paid dream vacation, what would it be? I would go to the Four Seasons, Maldives.  Oh My God, the pictures make it look so amazing!  I read a book called On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves.  It was about this teacher who was hired to tutor a cancer survivor over the summer to get him ready to go back to regular high school.  They traveled together to meet up with his family who were vacationing there and their plane crashes and they end up castaways on an uninhabited island in the Maldives.  The ending surprised the heck out of me and it was a really good summer read if anyone is interested!

@mandyreads if I'm being too nosy just tell me to butt out but I'm so curious what do you mean by review for Tracey?  I will be so jealous if you get to read books for a living!!!  I didn't even know there was a 2nd book.  Is it with the same characters?  Didn't she self-publish the first? It became a NYT best seller right?

I even told her about you gushing about On the Island. Uncharted is bk 2. It does have the same 2 characters but it is mainly about "Bones". I think you'll like it if you read it. Uncharted I think was self pub so you'll have to get it at amazon or another online site. But I do believe it is in paperback if you are not an ereader.

@mandyreads it's sad but I do mostly e-read now.  I miss the weight and smell of real books though! :-( Weird, I know, but true for me! Tell her we read it for book club and all of us raved about it!!!

Since I review, ereader is the only way to go. Bc most authors send out ebooks for us to review. But I miss the smell too. I have to make sure I throw in a physical bk ever so often.

I have good days and bad days. But Diclegis is a nectar of the gods. Even though I still have to take Zofran, I can finally EAT!!! Not a ton, but enough I'm not hangry. I also have more energy. I didn't realize how much the constant "I might puke" feeling was draining my energy until I got it taken care of!

I had my 8-week-check on Friday. No major news though. And I think I completed my Diclegis rave above! Ha.
QOTW:  If you could have an all-expenses-paid dream vacation, what would it be?WELL.....Depending on my mood.....Either a Meditterranean cruise (stopping in Spain, France, Italy, Greece, safe parts of Israel, and Morrocco). OR Some island in the South Pacific with one of those little huts over the water and a hot waiter to bring me drinks with an umbrella. I'm not picky though. :-)

Very nervous. Only saw the heartbeat for the first time last week. Was certain I would miscarry up to that point. 

5) Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?

I see my OB again on Thursday. I'm curious to hear her thoughts on the validity of my pregnancy since she gave me a 5% chance of seeing a heartbeat. Then was away on vacation so I couldn't ask her then. 

(RANT)  I do think that they rush to diagnose blighted ovums much too quickly. I saw her the day before my US and she wrote me a script for Misoprostol. I'm so glad I waited and insisted on another ultrasound. Even if I DO miscarry, it needs to be on Mother Nature, not moderm medicine to decide when my pregnancy ends. 

QOTW:  If you could have an all-expenses-paid dream vacation, what would it be?

We were really hoping to take the kids on one last family vacation to Hawaii before they all up and graduate and move away. Now with the new baby coming, it's likely we'll postpone it. I'm not sure now how it will pan out. Traveling to Hawaii with a newborn hardly seems like a vacation. Maybe a babymoon is exactly what I need.

@snflowr14 - you're welcome! Oh believe me, it was scary to start, it took me a good 2 months to get over the extreme nervousness and worry! It's scary after a MC too, you start reliving all the moments before when you get to the same point. But having the ultrasounds and hearing the heartbeat and getting back good test results really start to ease the mind. Being a FTM, I recently found out you only get a few ultrasounds early on and then maybe 2-3 more later on, I kind of freaked wondering how I'd know how the baby was doing! I'm amazed how fast the time is moving... I feel like the baby was just the size of a blueberry, now a plum!
