LGBT parenting in Ohio

My partner and I are going full force with having a baby this year. I am so worried though about the fact that my partner may not have all the same rights I will. Does anyone who lives in Ohio or know the rules of Ohio have any recommendations on what we can do to ensure she has the same legal rights as me? We are not legally married, but if that would help to go get married in a state that it is legal then we will do that. Any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

    We live in Ohio, I would contact a local LGBT lawyer because judges decisions are changing all the time and lawyer's that handle the cases regularly are more up to date on things. Ohio does not have second parent adoption.. The ruling in favor of recognizing out of state same sex marriages is up in the air and will effect adoption and who is listed on the birth certificate.
    What part of Ohio are you? We are in Columbus. Feel free to message me, we literally just had our baby today, so I might be a bit slow on getting back to you.

    It's a GIRL!
    We welcomed Adalyn Cooper Elizabeth on 8/29/14
    She was 7lbs 11oz and 19.6 inches long

    37, married to my favorite person in the world, DW! One darling surfer-girl (12) and one darling, sweet boy born 3/16/13.

    5/2013 Started TTC #3, DW's turn: 5/2013: Diagnostics (shg) and surgery (polyp rem.) for best chances. July-Oct: IUI # 1-4, medicated, monitored, triggered.  All BFN. IVF in Jan May. Sheesh. Whoop! IVF#1 cycle started 4/2/14. 5/1: 19 eggs retrieved, 8 matured, ICSI'd.  4 fertilized.   Only 2 to transfer/freeze stage. 5/6: Two embryos transferred. 5/15: Beta #1 9dp5dt is 134! BFP! 5/19: Beta #2 13dp5dt is 672! B'erFP! 5/21: Beta #3 15dp5dt is 1853.  Yay!

    We are also in Ohio. We are due in December and I echo what Trish has said. I think for us the most important thing to do is power of attorney over each other and ensure we have all the documents in place in case something happens. We are still waiting for the case to come back but if it doesn't go through then it heads to the Supreme Court. Last I heard, it wasn't looking good and I hope that I am really wrong about that.

    We are also in Columbus. Sorry it took someone so long to respond to this...things have been insane!

    Ultrasound at 18 weeks on 7/14/2014. Baby is healthy and growing just as she should!
