Fully Healed?

Is there anyone that is not fully healed still?

I am 7 weeks pp and still healing. I had a 2nd degree tear which took 3 sutra kits when only one is usually used. I've been having to do kegal exercises but so far it's not helping

Has anyone else experienced this? Doc said I might have to have physical therapy to make things right again

Re: Fully Healed?

  • I really didn't feel good till last week and I'm 10 weeks out.  Everything was still swollen and hard for awhile.  I would just give it more time and keep doing what you are doing.  There are a lot of factors that may come into play.  Hematomas, the suture not dissolving as quickly, and muscle damage are all examples.  It was 3 months before I felt normal after my first delivery.  I really thought I would never heal or get rid of the heavy feeling in my pelvis.  I did eventually :)  I hope you feel better soon and don't need physical therapy.  I'm not quite sure what they would do, eh hem, down there.  :\">

They have exercises to work on toning and controlling your pelvic floor muscles. Lots of women have had to do it after childbirth or for other reasons. I have interstitial cystitis and I had to do PT for it before I had kids.

And yeah, OP, it can take things longer than you expect to get back to normal. It was awhile before I felt normal after my first vaginal birth, and even then it was kind of a new normal. Hang in there.

  • Thanks ladies. The doctor mentioned they could shock the muscle which doesn't sound fun to me...hanging in there and staying positive
  • I'm 8wks pp and now have to recover from a D&C. They found out I had an exaggerated implantation site (benign tumor) which is why I have been bleeding this entire time. I would just like to stop bleeding...

  • I'm 8 weeks today and am still not fully healed. I had a 3rd degree perineal tear. It has just been taking a long time to finish healing. I have my 3rd PP appt in a week and in hoping for good news. She used silver nitrate on it last time and that was worse than actually having the baby! Hope I don't need that again. I'm mostly just a little sore and there is some stinging when I pee, but overall I'm doing sooo much better than I was! Apparently 3rd degree tears can take 6 months or longer to be back to normal and my doc says the first 3 months are the hardest.

  • I'm 5w3d PP, and my stomach is still tender to the touch. I'm moving around just fine. Comfortable lifting stuff, for the most part. But sometimes I'll move the wrong way or DD1 will press on my stomach wrong, and I'm in pain. Doc told me though, that he had to cut through some muscle to get DD2 out. He said I'd probably be sore for awhile. Lucky me.

  • I'm 5 weeks, 4 days and just had my pp visit today. I have one stitch that still hasn't dissolved from my second degree tear. I actually had more trouble with urinary pain than my tear. OB said 2 more weeks before trying anything. I'm actually bummed. I miss my DH.
