Jamie ~ John wants to know how sturdy the toy storage thing is.  You know the engineer thinks he can build it better and I said but would it be worth it.  So haha...I need your assessment.

Oh and Andrea got engaged over Thanksgiving!  Getting married on Halloween, but I feel like I told you that already but maybe I'm just really tired.

Hey Anne!

 Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I've realized that checking anything on the computer cannot possibly be done on a daily basis these days! You did mention about Andrea getting engaged and I also saw her myspace about it. I'm so happy for her, esp. after all she went through with Ryan!

 

I think that the storage thing is pretty sturdy. We have it against a wall and there's 2 bars on every shelf. This allows you to place the bins flat against the bars or at an angle. Andrew is able to get the bottom bins out on his own - and he sits in the bigger ones! Despite all of this, he hasn't gotten close to toppling it over at all. I like it b/c it can hold a lot of his smaller toys, and even most of his cars he plays with. We use 2 of the bins for his mega blocks, too. When I first bought it I had the bins organized by type of toy, but that hasn't lasted. I pick up the toys 2x per day - and have established that's enough despite the mess he makes in between! It was really easy to put it together, too. I think it did it on my own in about 15 mins. Of course, Andrew helped! 

I'm sure John would be able to make something similar and just as sturdy or even sturdier. I paid $60 for it from Lowe's, so that's why I posted about Target having it for $39 - figures that would be my luck!  The only concern I would have about John trying to make one is the cost for the wood and to buy the bins separately, but if you can find a deal, go for it! It's amazing how expensive certain things can be for kids these days! Let me know if John decides to make one - of course, I'd want to see how it turned out!
