DH just for one of those kid trailers for his bike. Are they safe for street use or should he stick to the paved multi use trail? I figured you would know as our resident bike expert. DH says it's fine but having them on the street trailing behind him gives me pause

Not let but lurking and ill answer. I take the kids on the roads all the time. I figure helmets plus five point harnesses keep them as safe as a car.

Yes but drivers are naturally more cautious around them. I live in a very pro bike area and have never heard/read in our local paper about kids getting killed or injured.
