Every time my sister comes for dinner, I get text messages about what I am making. I chose tacos for tonight because she loves them. No matter what I make she has to send messages, am I sure I have enough sour cream, do I have lettuce, etc? Like she thinks I make incomplete meals. She also texted to ask if I have two dessert choices for her. I am getting fed up. She is a single executive with no kids but she has zero social skills. I try to joke, like do I not make good meals, etc. but I am fed up lol! It's so weird! Thanks for letting me vent lol!

I may have a weird answer. Yes it would annoy me but I would just think "that's how she is." Or "whatever floats her boat". I think I only think this now because I miss my sister so badly. I'm thinking about her everyday. It's been almost 7 months since she's been gone and I'm still in complete denial. But if she were still with us and I was in your situation, I would say something but make it jokingly. Something along the lines of "if you keep asking me what I'm going to make, I'm going to tell you "x" but have something completely different when you get here." Or do you ant to make it?! Lol 

No matter what. Enjoy your sister and her bugging you. Sorry I got all depressed on you.

That is a little strange.  Are you really close with her?  If not, maybe that's just her way of making small talk and being "sisterly".  Even though to you it's like what the heck, I can totally figure out how to get a taco dinner on the table.  

It's easy to get annoyed and fed up, but I am sure she doesn't mean any negativity by saying it.

I do think she would gladly bring anything I asked. I guess it's just her. I'm so sorry about your loss @minerswife17. I do try to joke with her about it. She also orders weird in restaurants, like two appetizer, one entree and then usually 2 desserts. She likes a lot of choice but then she doesn't eat the food. I think that is what it is, she wants lots of choice. For family holiday meals, she will call people she doesn't talk to all year to see what they are making, then ask them to adapt their recipes to her taste lol, it's a quirk I guess.

I told her we were having ice cream sundaes, she said she wanted rice Krispy treats lol! I said I'm at a bouncy castle place, I'm not leaving to go make rice Krispy treats. She said she would pick up remade ones on her way. We are super close, talk everyday and see each other twice a week usually.

Oh and last time she was hear we planned on ordering pizza. She asked if she could place the order. DH almost fainted when the guy came to the door. 120 bucks for pizza for 3 adults, one kid. I don't even know how she did that. There were like 5 small pizzas, desserts, wings. She did split the cost with us. I do love her, I should stop bitching about her.

That's more than we spent on pizza for DDs first bday party! For 30 adults! Sounds like she just like variety! Ha

You can love somebody and still think they're a fucking loon and a rude one at that. I am an overorderer at restaurants but at somebody else's house? That's nuts.

If my sis did that I wouldn't invite her over haha. I'd meet her out or let her host. We are super close so I'd just tell her to knock it off & I have it covered.

LOL - I think it'd be highly entertaining to go to her place for a holiday dinner that she prepared...  At least you know you wouldn't starve because of all the variety!! 

I'd take it as her way of offering to help - heck, knowing me the one time someone would be coming over and asked "do you have any cheese" would be the one bleep'n time I would have run out!

Yeah, it's pretty rude but it sounds like it's just what she does. I'd call her on it every time.

Interesting to say the least. I would be surprised if there weren't other control issues or obsessive behaviors. I think it goes a little beyond quirky, like not letting foods touch or not eating a certain color.

It would bother me in the sense that I would roll my eyes and curse at the phone every time a text came in. I wouldn't say anything though

OP, I'd probably just start giving her a job or have her bring something each time (example: rice krispie treats).  I doubt she's meaning to be a pain and my sister and I would definitely have a conversation similar to yours.  Maybe we're weird too.

No not at all - I meant that not liking your foods to touch is just a little quirky (quite common actually, but still quirky) but this chick seems to go waaaay beyond that. I mean, calling relatives that you see once a year to see what they are making and asking them to modify it to your preferences - whoa.

I have a friend like this. I made a spaghetti dish that she liked once and decided the next time she came I would make it again since she liked it. When I told her that's what I was planning she asked if I could use ground turkey instead of beef. She has all these dietary preferences and is paranoid about food contamination. Like there was a recall on chicken and so she didn't want to eat chicken. She prefers not to eat red meat. Weird stuff like that. I usually just make something she has eaten and liked before and tell her something to bring. She usually brings drinks or fruit or something. I kind of just don't let it bother me anymore since I know that's just how she is. She's not trying to be rude, she's just strange.

Total out there question...but does she eat much food? Or just move it around?  Maybe she has an eating disorder and not only fixates on the details of food but over orders in order to hide the fact that she hasn't actually eaten much?  Not saying your sister has an eating disorder but I can see it being way less likely for someone to suspect it if you are known as the person that orders way to much for one person to ever eat versus ordering a small amount of food and not eating it.

Ok, now she has an eating disorder? I'm an over orderer bc I want a bite of everything bc it all looks good...not because I have an eating disorder.
