Cloth Diapering

Preemie moms

How soon did your babies fit into CDs? My SIL just delivered her first at 37 weeks and she had mild IUGR. 4lbs 15 oz though and she's healthy and looks great! Newborn disposables at the hospital are too big. SIL has GMD orange edge dipes to start out with. Thanks!

Born at 32 weeks and 4.5 lbs (dropped to 4 lbs and stayed there for a week or so). Preemie disposables were big, but worked. We were discharged at 36 weeks and 5 lbs 13 oz. Bummis Super Brite and Rumparooz NB covers and preemie prefolds fit right away.

Edit: the cord stump was also already off when we started cloth.

  • I delivered mine at 36 weeks, she weighed 3 lbs 7 ozs. She was about 4 lbs and some ozs when she could fit into a newborn prefold with a bummis super bright cover. Now she's 5 lbs 9.5 ozs and can fit more like her fitteds and pockets.

  • Thanks everyone!
  • My little guy was born at 36w4d and was just under 6 pounds. He didn't get to wear cloth until he was almost 2 weeks due to being in the hospital for most of those 2 weeks but he was in Bummis preemie prefolds and yellow edge Osocozy prefolds with Bummis newborn, Thirsties duos size 1, and a SweetPea OS cover over them until he was about 3-4 months old.

  • Thanks everyone for the help! SIL has some new covers coming her way!
  • My girl was full term, but only 5 and a half pounds. I don't feel like her cloth fit well until she was about 8 lbs, and those were NB size covers with orange edge GMD's. And they were still really bulky.
