Trying to keep it simple. DH and I made an agreement we wouldn't spend more than $50 total. I have $30 leftover for food. Yikes.
We are only inviting 6 families. It will be at a quiet park under a gazebo next to the playground. Kids can play on that, there is a well stocked fishing pond too (where DH will probably be), and I will be giving out small goodie bags. Shit, factor those supplies into the $30...
Food will be picnic fare, sandwiches, fruit, a teddy graham snack mix, and those acorn Hershey kisses. I'll be making cupcakes for the guests and a small smash cake for DS.
I made a fabric pennant banner and an appliquéd onesie for DS to wear. I have yards of tan fabric that I will use to cover the food table and some scraps of gingham print to lay under the serving dishes. I made a pennant banner and an applique onesie for DS to wear.
AW the banner:
Wow! That pennant looks great!! Can you share the applique onesie? I love the things you make!

Yes! I will in a little bit once DS is done with his bottle. It has a few homemade touches (aka mess ups) but overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and pleasantly shocked with how simple it was to do. Still a giant pain in the ass, but I'm not afraid to make applique stuff anymore.
All our family and close friends are back home, so we are just having a tiny party. We did rent a room at the community center and his paternal grandparents are RVing their way in. Besides them, we are inviting the godparents and their 2 way older kids and a couple of friends we have made here. No other kids to worry about entertaining and just planning on pizza, cake, and chatter. Oh and lots of baby Mickey!
I have been successfully avoiding birthday threads because I had guilt that I wasn't going to throw DD a big party, since we have my sister's wedding a few days before and we are renovating our kitchen. Now DH is saying he wants to throw her a big party. What? She isn't even an October baby. She will be 1 on Sept. 25th, which is 6 days after my sister's wedding. Ahh!
I'm so glad I read this thread. I love the photo station/ chalkboard idea! We are having dd's at home in our backyard. We have a sandbox and playset for the littles and plenty of patio space for everyone else. We're decorating with pumpkins, mums and fall type stuff. For food I'm thinking of having a chili bar. Lots of great ideas, thanks everyone!
