TTC After a Loss

NTTCALR: Weekend afternoon activities?

Hi ladies! I'm already thinking about the weekend and I really want to do something fun with Hubby on Saturday but I am coming up blank. What are people's fun (preferably inexpensive) weekend activities? Our Saturday always turns into errands or something equally not fun. Seriously last Saturday we had lunch at Ikea and went to Home Depot :(

I need some new ideas, thanks!!

Re: NTTCALR: Weekend afternoon activities?

  • This weekend I might go to the Renaissance Festival with some friends.  But on an ordinary weekend I try to go on hikes or long bike rides if the weather is nice.  If it's not we will frequently host board game nights or just spend days that we really need to get browsing stores or going to the weekly library used book sale.
If we want to be at home, usually we'll get a house project out of the way.  Painting or fixing a door.  And if we want to be really lazy...movie weekends with popcorn are always nice.
We met in middle school. We got married 15 years later in a February blizzard of 2010.

  • =)) Your post reminded me the movie Old School.  I can't find the gif for the scene I am referencing, but "Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wall paper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time."

  • @MrsKush1014‌ literally that is us! We quote it constantly. And there's a bed bath and beyond 5 minutes away. It is referred to as "the triple B" in the KM household.... You see why I need suggestions! =))

  • @amybunny30 tripadvisor you say? That is a damn good idea!

@furrypaws our pup would hate that. But an excellent idea without her!

@menrandes I'm trying to avoid house projects, but yes that's generally our go to. I feel like winter is coming and that's a good time for projects

  • - rent some kayaks for a couple hours
    - pack some fruit, cheese, crackers and wine and go on a hike
    - depending on your area, check out tripadvisor.com and see what tourists enjoy in your area. I've found some gems I didn't know about there.

Your city/area may also have a department of tourism or marketing website that lists attractions, entertainment, etc.  I check ours out sometimes when I'm looking for a fun date-night option.

  • There's a massage school close to where I live and they do a weekend clinic - the students have to spend so many hours working on people. Massages are an hour long and are fairly cheap. Maybe see if there's something like that near you? You could turn it into a romantic weekend :)

  • IKEA and Home Depot sound like an awesome Saturday! Especially since the nearest IKEA is now a state away
    :(

Fun Saturday ideas that are cheap:

A marathon viewing of something and couch sex.

The zoo (if you have one close).

Visiting some historical place or museum.

    Hiking

    Fishing

    Going for a drive somewhere.

Oh bug, I am very sorry your ikea is so far away. (That's not sarcasm, it truly makes me sad)

Aaaand you win with the couch sex suggestion! I think that can be an evening activity

  • We do all kinds of things! Visit museums, walk around our town, go to the park for a hike, cook together, watch a movie, go to any local festival. We also try new restaurants, exercise together or pick an activity we would enjoy together- ice skating comes to mind. So much fun on a hot day to cool off!
