Variations on the name Annette

DH wants to use a variation on Annette (his grandmother) as a MN for baby girl :) suggestions?

the only thing I've come up with so far is Anais, which I love but am not completely sold on. Anna is out bc that's his business partner. I'm honestly not a fan of the old-school names that have become wildly popular lately, or made-up names. His family uses really loosely tied naming associations (Laurence after a Lillian, Harriet after a Harry) so the possibilities are wider

  • Any version of Anne works. Anya, Anne, Nancy, Anneliese, Annabel, Rosanne, Anastasia, Antonia, Hannah, Joanna, Susanna, Julianne, Marianna, Marianne, Arianna, Rhiannon, Anwen, etc.

  • Why not just Annette? I think it makes a nice mn and goes with almost everything.

I'll also chime in that I really like Annette. If it was a family name, I'd be all over that. It really does work well in the middle.

  • I like Annette, but DH said he didn't particularly (nope don't get the logic there at all :)
I think it depends on where we end up with a FN. The only serious name he's mentioned is Julia...I love it but think it makes an odd sibset.

    LOVE Anneliese!

  • My moms middle name was  antoinette and  i love it. if i had another girl i would have used it.
  • Julia Anneliese is exceptionally pretty. I feel like Anneliese works well with most first names though. :)

  • Random story: If you use it as a MN, do not use the name Mary as the FN. (my mom's name, she goes by Annette).

I agree that pretty much any Anne name will work. I love PPs suggestion of Annika.

  • What about Annelle? Has a sweet, southern vibe to it. Also is name of Daryl Hannah's character in Steel Magnolias, one of my personal favorite movies of all time :-)
